SPC tournament baseball
No. 1 West Lincoln defeated No. 8 Highland Tech 8-3 on Thursday.
The Rebels scored three runs in the bottom of the first. Brett Huff drew a leadoff walk, moved to third on a single by Dalton Towery. Huff and Towery both scored on a two-RBI single by Chandler Jenkins. Jenkins stole second, moved to third on a sacrifice by Cameron High and scored on a single by Cody Dellinger, who led West Lincoln at the plate with three hits, an RBI and a run scored.
Ethan Bumgarner led off the bottom of the second with a single and Huff was hit by a pitch. Bumgarner scored on a sacrifice by Jenkins and Huff crossed home on a single by High for a 5-0 West Lincoln lead.
Dellinger singled to lead off the bottom of the third and scored on a double to left field by Derrick Braun. Braun scored on an error to give the Rebels a 7-0 advantage.
Towery added an RBI for the Rebels last run of the game in the bottom of the third.
No.4 Lake Norman Charter defeated No. 5 North Lincoln 2-1 on Thursday.
Lincoln Charter picked up a PCAC Tournament Championship with a 4-2 win over Pine Lake Prep on Thursday.
Hunter Dodson pitched a complete game with nine strikeouts, two hits and one earned run.
Dodson led Lincoln Charter at the plate with a double and an RBI. Zach Hollar added a double.
SPC tournament softball
No. 2 West Lincoln defeated No. 7 Lincolnton 4-0 in the opening round of the Southern Piedmont Conference tournament on Thursday.
Freshman Erin Huff pitched a complete-game shutout with two hits and one strikeout.
Alex Goins led West Lincoln at the plate with three hits. Rylee Marsh and Raeven McCrodden each added a hit and an RBI. Brittany Ormand and Hunter Campbell both had one hit. Madison Ferguson added two RBIs on sacrifices.
No. 3 East Lincoln defeated No.6 Lake Norman Charter 7-6 on Thursday.
East Lincoln defeated Cherryville 6-2 on Tuesday for Senior Night.
Jennifer Allison picked up the win on the mound. Taylor Wilson went 3-3 with two singles and a two-run home run with three RBIs.
Carly Johnson added two singles and an RBI, Haley Meza logged a single and an RBI and Ava Hicks added a single and an RBI.
Lincolnton defeated West Lincoln 1-0 on Thursday.
North Lincoln defeated West Lincoln 8-1 on Wednesday.
East Lincoln defeated Cherryville 3-0 on Monday for Senior Night.
Senior goalkeeper Macy Kincaid recorded the shutout. Seniors Makenzie Mackel, Cecilia Pepper and Dalton Bell each netted a goal for East Lincoln. East Lincoln has clinched the No. 1 2A seed from the SPC conference and has priority seeding for the state playoffs.
Lincoln Charter defeated Community School of Davidson 1-0 on Thursday.
Tori Jackson logged Lincoln Charter’s lone goal. Madi NeeSmith had four saves for Lincoln Charter.
