Seniors participate in games

Lincoln county seniors participated in the Silver Arts and Performing Arts and Cheerleader Showcase in March.

Lincoln County participants triumphed at the Gaston County Senior Games Silver Arts Showcase on March 15 and the Performing Arts and Cheerleader Showcase on March 22. In 1983, North Carolina Senior Games began with a vision to create a year-round health promotion and education program for North Carolinians 55 years of age and better.
Lincoln County partnered with the Gaston County Senior Games and is part of a statewide network of 53 local programs sanctioned by North Carolina Senior Games, Inc. Senior Games is sponsored statewide by the North Carolina Division of Aging and Adult Services. NCSG also offers SilverArts, the statewide heritage, visual, literary and performing-arts program, and the SilverStriders national award-winning walking program.
The following seniors participated in the SilverArts and Performing Arts and Cheerleader Showcase from Lincoln County: Carolyn Bauguess, Florence Beam, Winnie Cunningham, Patricia Harris, Bob Hodges, Robert Hovis, Phyllis Keener, Charles Mize, Libby Mize, Pinkie Mosteller, Ermintrude Mullen, Marcus Mullen, Nonna Olson, Richard Olson, Richard Sides, Sue Jane Sides, Logene Solberg and Gwen Weigand.
In all, there were 15 first-place winners, nine second-place finishers and 12 third-place finishers, making the award count total 36.
Additionally, Logene Solberg won “Best of Show” for Performing Arts.
