Henry Lee Roach Jr.

GASTONIA — Henry Lee Roach Jr., 84, passed away April 30, 2013, at his residence.

He was born March 21, 1929 in Lincoln County, son of the late Henry L. Roach Sr. and Addie Lynch Roach. Mr. Roach was the former owner of Gastonia Motor Parts, Inc. He was a long time member, Elder, Sunday school teacher and choir member of Crowders Creek ARP Church.

A funeral service will be held 4 p.m. on Thursday at Crowders Creek ARP Church, officiated by Pastor Ben Wingard. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the church cemetery.

He is survived by: wife, Annie Mae Boyd Roach of Gastonia; son, Douglas Roach and wife, Nancy of Gastonia; daughter, Peggy Grigg and husband, Bob of Gastonia; son, Steven Roach and wife, Jan of Gastonia; daughter, Carolyn Champion, and husband, Chris of Gastonia; daughter, Marilyn Brooks and husband, David of Gastonia; daughter, Greta Berry and husband, Bill of Oak Park, Va.; brother, Tom Roach and wife, Erma  of Lincolnton; sisters, Linda Wilkinson and husband, Johnny of Lincolnton, Emily Howard and husband, Max of Lake Wylie, Martha Sigmon of Lincolnton, Sandra Huffstetler and husband, Johnny of Lincolnton, Charlotte Lynch of Lincolnton; brother, Bill Roach and wife, Debbie of Lincolnton; thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his sister, Joyce Avery.

Lester Ralph Rudisill

Mr. Lester Ralph Rudisill, age 56, of 115 Jonas Drive in Lincolnton, died on Monday, April 29, 2013.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Lincolnton with Rev. Billy Bollinger officiating. The body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service.  Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. this evening at Warlick Funeral Home.

Ralph was born November 10, 1956 in Lincoln County to the late Carl Franklin and Kathleen Schrum Rudisill. He was the owner/operator of Zipper’s Restaurant in Lincolnton. He enjoyed giving more than receiving and would want all of his friends to pay it forward. As many hearts as he touched, they touched his in return.

He is survived by a son, Travis Rudisill of Lincolnton; fiancé, Cindy Taylor; four brothers, Johnny Rudisill, Ronnie Rudisill and wife Sheila, Garry Rudisill and wife Nancy, and Bill Rudisill, all of Lincolnton; two sisters, Patty Schronce and husband Scott of Iron Station and Dorothy “Dot” Boykin and husband Jim of Concord; two stepsons, Jonathan Avery and Cody Taylor; and two grandchildren, Aaron Bland and Devin Avery.

Charles Adolphus Heavner

Charles Adolphus Heavner, age 81 of Lincolnton, died on Monday, April 29, 2013.

His funeral service will be 4 p.m. today at Bethphage Lutheran Church with Pastor Robert Mitschke officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. in the Bethphage Family Life Center.

Mr. Heavner was born June 22, 1931 in Lincoln County to the late Earnest Kohn and Della Houser Heavner. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Wayne Heavner and a brother, Joe Billy Heavner.  He was self-employed in construction.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Thornburg Heavner of the home; one sister, Sarah Heavner Hallman of Lincolnton; one brother, Bob Heavner and wife Madge of Lincolnton; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethphage Lutheran Church, Elevator Fund, 3440 Highway 182, Lincolnton, NC 28092.

Virginia Bowden Cline

Virginia Bowden Cline, 84, of Lincolnton died April 27, 2013.

Funeral services will be held May 3, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Providence Missionary Baptist Church with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Glenn J. Parker

Glenn J. Parker, 77, of Newton died April 30, 2013.

A funeral service will be held May 2, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Freedom Baptist Church, Newton. Burial will follow at Providence Road Baptist Church cemetery, Maiden. The family will receive friends on May 2, 2013 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the church, prior to the service.
