Mustangs sweep SPC track championship meet

East Lincoln’s boys and girls track teams both finished in first place at the Southern Piedmont 1A/2A Conference championship meet at North Lincoln on Wednesday.
The Mustangs finished in first place in 14 of the meet’s 36 events. The Mustangs boys team finished 102 points ahead of second-place North Lincoln.
“The guys did a great job at the Conference Championship Meet,” East Lincoln boys coach Lonnie Custer said in an email. “As a coach, it is great to see the kids perform at a high level. North Lincoln has a good team and our kids knew we had to perform well to win the meet. With realignment coming next season, we wanted to finish our time in the SPC on a strong note.”
North Lincoln finished second in both the boys and girls standings. West Lincoln took third in the girls events and fifth in boys. Lincolnton finished fourth in the girls standings and sixth in the boys.
East Lincoln senior Jesse Earnhardt was named the Field MVP for the meet and Will Krehnbrink took Track MVP honors.
Ashley Luckey took first place in two events for East Lincoln. North Lincoln’s Allie Castro finished first in three events.
