Contributed A reception, given by Lincoln County Home Educators, was recently held for Celia Smith at the Lincoln Cultural Center. The reception was given to honor Smith for serving as the group’s leader for 24 years. In May, she will step down from the position. Her last child, Jeremy, will graduate from high school, and, thus, Smith’s homeschooling journey will come to an end. Present and past members of LCHE were in attendance. Smith was honored with a short speech given by Robin Martin, a board member. She was also presented a plaque honoring her many years of service, along with a bouquet of flowers. The event was catered by Wanda Reep. Chamber music was played by Angela Kanipe and Faith Kanipe of Newton.
