Deputies have arrested a Catawba County teen connected to a northern Lincoln County drug deal and kidnapping Thursday night, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Dillon Shane Uzzell, 17, of 3121 Springlake Drive in Newton, is being held under a $41,000 secured bond, but deputies said they are still on the hunt for three other people also involved in the incident and whom Sheriff’s Detective Kelly Paris is currently obtaining arrest warrants.
Two groups of teens, one of which included a 14-year-old juvenile, setup a drug buy for marijuana on Tripple H Lane, a press release said.
One of the groups showed up to the incident in an SUV, deputies said.
During the buy, one of the individuals grabbed marijuana from the SUV before paying for it and fled the scene.
The remaining teens forced the juvenile inside the vehicle and drove off, the release said.
The 14-year-old was released from the vehicle a short time later near Oliver’s Crossroads and East Maiden Road, where deputies picked up the teen and returned him to his residence.
The juvenile, who could only identify Uzzell to deputies, suffered multiple injuries including a bloody nose, bumps on his head and cigarette burns on his body, the release said.
Lincoln and Catawba County deputies immediately went to Uzzell’s home and arrested him, charging him with one felony count of first-degree kidnapping and one misdemeanor count of assault inflicting serious injury.
