Lincolnton couple attends Carolina Farm Credit’s Ag Leadership Institute
Joshua and Disa Gantt of Lincolnton were selected for and recently attended the Agricultural Leadership Institute in Asheville, hosted by Carolina Farm Credit. The 13th annual event, held at the Inn on Biltmore Estate, brought together and celebrated young, beginning, small and minority farmers. It was created to equip these farmers to meet the challenges of modern agriculture and encourage the sharing of ideas and networking within the industry.
The Gantts were nominated to attend the conference by the staff of Carolina Farm credit’s Lincolnton service center. The local staff includes Peggy Broach, home loan specialist; Ben Cabaniss, loan officer; Brian Hord, loan officer; and Stephanie Turner, service center coordinator. The office is supervised by Regional Lending Manager Gary Hastings.
The dynamic and interactive three-day seminar was led by Dr. David Kohl, professor emeritus at Virginia Tech and professional speaker, and Dr. Alex White, financial advisor and former Virginia Tech professor in the Department of Agriculture and Applied Economics.
Participants at the institute voted to send four couples to the North Carolina Cooperative Leadership Conference in Hiawassee, Ga., later this year, with the Gantts among those selected.
Carolina Farm Credit serves more than 8,800 members, with loans outstanding totaling more than $1.3 billion. The association’s territory covers the western half of North Carolina.
