Leroy King, 64, of Hickory died April 12, 2013.

The will be no services.

Randy Thomas Reep

Randy Thomas Reep, 60, of Cherryville died April 16, 2013.

A memorial service will be held April 19, 2013 at 4 p.m. at First Wesleyan Church. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.

Carpenter’s Funeral and Cremation Services, Cherryville is serving the Reep family.

 

Junior Davis

George Junior Davis, 81, of Maiden died April 15, 2013.

A funeral service will be April 18, 2013 at 12 noon at Lawings Chapel Baptist Church, Maiden. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, at the church from 11 a.m. until 11:45 a.m.

Lillian Carol Ebert

Lillian Carol Ebert, 50, of Lincolnton passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013 at CMC-Mercy Hospital in Charlotte.

Born January 14, 1963 in Mecklenburg County, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence George Ebert and the late Carolyn Putman Ebert. In addition to her parents, a brother, Larry Ebert preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son and fiancee’, Joey Beal and Emily of the home; two grandsons, Adam Beal of New York, Joseph Beal of the home; one granddaughter, Taylor Beal of the home; one brother, Mike Ebert of West Lincoln.

The family will receive friends and celebrate the life of Lillian, Thursday, April 18, 2013 from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Burke Mortuary Chapel, Maiden.

Vickie Link Sides

Vickie Link Sides, age 69, of Lincolnton, died on Monday, April 15, 2013.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Covenant Bible Church with Rev. Doug McClain and Rev. Keith Chronister officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Sides was born September 9, 1943 in Lincoln County to the late Kenneth Kee and Pauline Sigmon Link. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roney Leroy Sides; sister, Robin Link; and grandparents, Hugh and Jessie Sherrill Link and George and Kate Goodman Sigmon. She was a graduate of Lincolnton High School and was the first female rural letter carrier at the Vale post office where she worked for 19 years. She also was the author of the book “Vickie’s Story, My Cancer Journey.”

She is survived by a daughter, Rhonda Sides Rumple and husband Randy Alan of Whitsett; a son, Gregory Link Sides and wife Johnna of Lincolnton; four grandchildren, Julianna Sides, Madeline Sides, Natalie Sides, and Landon Rumple; one sister, Wanda Dellinger and husband Larry; two brothers, Ken Link and wife Thresia and Scott Link and wife Pam, all of Lincolnton; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and Sides’ relatives.

Vickie enjoyed vacation time at the beach with family, gardening, writing, and singing in her choir.  She provided encouragement and inspiration to all those she met along her faith journey. She trusted in God to provide the miracle of life all while accomplishing His plans. The verse that provided a constant beacon of encouragement was Jeremiah 29:11; “For I know that plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Vickie knew God would go beyond what she could ever ask or think and His plan was the only plan to fulfill. “My affairs are in order; the most important being where I will spend eternity with my Jesus.”

Thank you to our family and friends for all the love, prayers and support during her years of illness. Special thanks to our churches, pastors, and medical staff. Thank you to Dr. Sykes, Dr. Yates and all their staff for the excellent care and kindness they provided.

Patricia Diane Helms Gates Gilbert

Patricia Diane Helms Gates Gilbert, 59, of Madison St., died April 12, 2013 at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia. She was born on July 9, 1953 in Gaston co. a daughter of Kathleen Short Helms Byers of Lincolnton and the late Howard Franklin Helms.

Mrs. Gilbert was a graduate of West Lincoln High School, member of Spiritual Guidance Church, Mt. Holly, and a CNA II in home health care.

In addition to her father she is preceded in death by a sister Linda Helms

Survivors include her daughters Jennifer Gates Lovell(Patrick) of Vale and Amy Michelle Hill(Steve) of Gastonia, four grandchildren Jessica Neill, Brandon Madel, Thorne Blancher and Preston Hill, sister Debra Gales of Lincolnton and brothers Ricky and Danny Helms of Lincolnton, and a special friend Donald Coble.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 3 PM at Carpenter’s Funeral and Cremations Services with Rev. Joe Small officiating with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Lincolnton. The family will receive friends Sunday at the Carpenter’s from 6-8 PM.

Stella Saw Chit Khin

Stella Saw Chit Khin, age 88, of 247 Bob Burgin Road in Lincolnton, died on Monday, April 15, 2013.

Her funeral service will be 2 pm on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Maiden with Rev. Dr. Robert Cantwell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Chit Khin was born June 18, 1924 in Rangoon, Burma to the late U. Saw and Daw Saw. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in Heaven by her husband, U. Mervyn Chit Khin, and sons Bunny and Cedric.

She is survived by her children, Monty Chit Khin and wife Libbie of Alexis, Ronnie Chit Khin and wife Nancy of Meadowview, Va., Terence Chit Khin and Cecil Chit Khin, Cecilia Chit Khin Blackledge and husband James, all of Lincolnton, Michael Chit Khin and wife Rosie of Newton, Kenneth Chit Khin and wife Angie of Pumpkin Center; thirteen grandchildren, Montgomery Mervyn, Chris Khin and wife Dianne, Shawna Matheny and husband Nathan, Amanda Khin, Charis Link and husband Marty, Rhonda, Heather Ginfrida and husband Scott, Kirk and wife Nina, Samantha, Kendria, Benji, Cedric, and Keegan; and five great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Dylan, Conner, Araya, and Tyler.

Shirley Donna Deaton Hord

Shirley Donna Deaton Hord, age 70, of 3319 Philadelphia Church Road in Dallas, died on Monday, April 15, 2013.

Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2013 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Calloway officiating. Burial will follow in David Memorial Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. this evening at Warlick Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home of her daughter, Chrystal Hoyle at 1926 Highway 73 in Iron Station.

Mrs. Hord was born July 9, 1942 in Gaston County to the late Charlie and Minnie Lee Tesner Deaton. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Bobby C. Deaton. Mrs. Hord worked as a seamstress.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence Vernon Hord Jr. of the home; a son, Vernon Ray Hord and wife Carla of Dallas; a daughter, Chrystal Hoyle and husband Jonathan of Iron Station; three sisters, Jeanette Smith of LaGrange, Bobbie Langley of Princeton, and Peggy Smith of LaGrange; four grandchildren, Brandon Ray Hord, Brooklyn Elizabeth Hoyle, Ballard G. Hoyle, and Charles W. Hord; and two great-grandchildren, Emmaline Rae Hord and Carleigh Irelyn Hord.

Betty Lou Scronce Shrum

Betty Lou Scronce Shrum, 86, of Lincolnton passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton.

Born February 10, 1927 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late William McKinley Scronce and the late Bulah Bell Abee Scronce.

In addition to her parents; two brothers, Loye Scronce, Frank Scronce; and two sisters, Katherine Scronce, Ruth Chapman preceded her in death.

Survivors include, husband of 68 years, Cecil Shrum of the home; two sons, Larry Shrum and wife, Jackie of Lincolnton, Warren Shrum and wife, Edith of Lincolnton; one daughter, Rachel Johnson of Lincolnton; two brothers, Bobby Scronce and T.C. Scronce both of Vale; two sisters, Geneva Ingle of Vale, Pansy Sain of Maiden; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren

A funeral service will be held today at 3 p.m. at Lawing’s Chapel Baptist Church in Maiden with Rev. Stephen Rector and Rev. Marion Powell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family received friends Tuesday, April 16, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Lawing’s Chapel Church in Maiden.
