Helen Shough Hill ‘Nookie”
Helen Hill, age 77, of Denver passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013 after a brief illness.
A devoted wife, mama, granny, and aunt, Helen lived in Lincolnton for the past 39 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Chubby, who passed away June 2011.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
She is survived by three daughters, Donna Craig and her husband Terry of Vale, Danita Thomas of Ga., and Lucynda Thomas of the home; three grandchildren, Jason Helton and his wife Shannon, Brenton Reinhardt, Connie Lowman and her husband Calvin; five great grandchildren, Jansen, Faith, Caroline, Calvin Ray, and Skylar.

Rachel Bernice Danner Rudisill
Rachel Bernice Danner Rudisill, 85, of Lincolnton, died Friday, April 12, 2013, in Charlotte.
Mrs. Rudisill was born July 7, 1927, in Maiden, to the late Ray Emmitt Danner and Bertie Sallie Williams Danner. A descendent of pioneers of Lincoln-Catawba counties, she was a countrywoman whose devotion to family, friends, and church endured a lifetime. Mrs. Rudisill was preceded in death by her husband, William Claude Rudisill; beloved son, Robert Ray “Bob” Rudisill; sister, Florence D. Payseur, all of Lincolnton; and brothers, Howard W. Danner of Maiden, and Ronald R. Danner, of Newton.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda C. Rudisill, of Cary; grandson, Eric S. Rudisill, of Matthews; granddaughter, Hannah R. Vassey, of Lincolnton; four great-grandchildren, Noah, Lucas, and Seth Rudisill, and Madison Vassey; sister-in-law, Alta Danner, of Newton; brother-in-law, Judson Payseur, of Lincolnton; and her extraordinary nieces- and nephew-in-law, Mary R. Bridges, John Bridges, Linda R. McGinnis, and Ann R. Rinehart.
Mrs. Rudisill was a hospital nurse for 44 years, working in Lincoln and Catawba counties, beginning at Reeves Gamble Hospital in Lincolnton. Her compassionate, attentive care and sunny personality, patients said, were the best medicine. Throughout her life, she also quietly cared for family and friends who were in declining health or suffering a loss.
Services will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 1 p.m. at E. F. Drum Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 16, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Interment will be at RiverView Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverends Guy Helms and Tommy Wright will officiate.

Patricia Diane Helms Gates Gilbert
Patricia Diane Helms Gates Gilbert, 59, of Madison St., died April 12, 2013 at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia. She was born on July 9, 1953 in Gaston Co. a daughter of Kathleen Short Helms Byers of Lincolnton and the late Howard Franklin Helms.
Mrs. Gilbert was a graduate of West Lincoln High School, member of Spiritual Guidance Church, Mt. Holly, and a CNA II in home health care.
In addition to her father she is preceded in death by a sister, Linda Helms.
Survivors include her daughters Jennifer Gates Lovell (Patrick) of Vale and Amy Michelle Hill (Steve) of Gastonia, four grandchildren Jessica Neill, Brandon Madel, Thorne Blancher and Preston Hill; sister Debra Gales of Lincolnton; and brothers Ricky and Danny Helms of Lincolnton; and a special friend, Donald Coble.
Funeral services will be held today at 3 p.m. at Carpenter’s Funeral and Cremations Services with Rev. Joe Small officiating with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Lincolnton. The family received friends Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the Carpenter’s from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Jeri Cook Blume, 73, of Lincolnton, passed away April 12, 2013 at her residence.
A native of Casar, she was born March 25, 1939, daughter of the late Raymond Cook Sr. and Blanch White Cook.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Steve, Alvin and Bobbie Cook; and her sister, Patricia Parker.
Jeri is survived by her life partner, Bill Berryhill; brothers, Raymond Cook Jr. and wife, Linda, Jim Cook and wife, Joann; sisters, Mary Beard and Bessie Rea Mathis.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Frances Mundy Gabriel, 88, of Sherrills Ford died April 14, 2013.
Services will be held April 16, 2013 at 4 p.m. at Hopewell United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Joseph “Joe” Darien Burgess, 69, of Conover died April 13, 2013.
A funeral service will be held on April 16, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Burke Mortuary Chapel, Newton. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park, Hickory. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Burke Mortuary in Newton.
