Lincolnton students to perform ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’

Lincolnton High School theater students held a dress rehearsal for their performance of ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ on Wednesday at the Cultural Center in Lincolnton. The musical, which runs from 7:30-9:30 p.m. today, Saturday and Sunday, was written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. Tickets cost $5 for students, $10 for adults. The play tells the Biblical story of Joseph from the book of Genesis. Joseph, a son of Jacob, was envied by his brothers for his brilliantly colored coat. His brothers sold him into slavery in Egypt, to prevent him from ruling over the family. Joseph and his brothers were eventually reunited, but not before Joseph became a powerful figure in Pharaoh’s household.
