The West Lincoln Rebels varsity baseball team capped a 2-1 run through the Shelby Easter Tournament with a 4-1 nonconference fifth-place victory over the East Lincoln Mustangs on Friday.
The Rebels broke a 1-1 tie with a three-run fifth inning to take the win.
West Lincoln, in first place in the Southern Piedmont 1A/2A Conference standings, took its second win in two weeks over the second-place Mustangs. The teams are schedule to meet again in SPC action on Apr. 26.
The Mustangs got on the board in the top of the third on Friday. Clay Hodges reached on an error and Darin Salter hit a one-out single to score the run.
The Rebels responded with one run in the bottom of the fourth. Derek Strange hit a two-out single to right field and scored on an error on a ground ball by Cody Dellinger.
Ethan Bumgarner drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the fifth, followed by a walk to Chris Callahan. Bumgarner scored on an RBI single by Brett Huff and Callahan crossed home on a sacrifice fly by Chandler Jenkins. Huff scored on an RBI single to right field by Cameron High.
Dalton Towery picked up the win for West Lincoln on the mound with nine strikeouts in five innings.
