E. Lincoln sweeps county track meet

Staff report

East Lincoln’s boys and girls track teams both finished first at the Lincoln County Championship on the Mustangs home track in Denver on Wednesday.
North Lincoln finished second on the boys side, ahead of West Lincoln and Lincolnton.
North Lincoln’s girls team also took second, ahead of Lincolnton at West Lincoln.
East Lincoln had first-place finishers in 15 of the meet’s 35 events. Ashlee Frazier took first place in the girls shot put and discus throw and Jesse Earnhardt finished first in the long jump, 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash. Damarius Valentine finished first in the high jump and the 110-meter hurdles.
North Lincoln’s Lyndsi Pound took first in the girls high jump and 100-meter hurdles. North Lincoln finished first in all three boys relay events.
West Lincoln’s Rebecca Owens took first place in the girls triple jump as the lone first-place finisher for the Rebels.
Bridget Derr led Lincolnton with a first-place finish in the girls 200-meter dash. Billy Brown took first place in the boys discus throw for Lincolnton.
