Thieves recently targeted numerous unlocked vehicles in eastern Lincoln County, stealing money, electronics and credit cards, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Detectives believe the rash of incidents took place on Saturday, when victims reported leaving their vehicles unlocked, according to an agency press release.
The incidents were discovered the following day by six different residents on Executive Circle and two on Connemara Court, both in Denver, deputies said.
Stolen items included four GPS systems, credit cards, change and a cell phone.
Sheriff’s Office authorities reminded the public that such theft can be prevented by simply locking one’s vehicle, even if a person only plans to leave the vehicle for a short amount of time.
In addition, deputies advised individuals in the release to keep personal items out their vehicles, and that even under a seat, “thieves know where to look.”
The Sheriff’s Office lastly asked residents to always remain vigil and on the lookout for potential criminals, contacting 911 if someone is looking into area vehicles or messing with door handles.
Individuals with information on any of the recent vehicular break-ins are asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (704) 732-8050.
