Peggy Ann Strohhacker
Peggy Ann Strohhacker, age 72, of 1111 General Hoke Drive in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, March 12, 2013.
Her funeral service will be 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Michael Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service in the North Wing of Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Strohhacker was born June 14, 1940 in Gaston County to the late Ernest William and Lola Metcalf Long. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Jean Strohhacker. Mrs. Strohhacker was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Dieter Strohhacker of the home; sons, Cameron Wayne Homesley and wife Tina of Murrells Inlet, S.C. and Erich William Strohhacker and wife Jamie of Richmond, Va.; one sister, Kay Warren and husband Bill of Lincolnton; and three grandchildren, Dillon Conner Strohhacker, McKensie Leigh Strohhacker, and Reagen Ann Strohhacker.

Nancy Whitesides Beal
Nancy Whitesides Beal, 76, of Lincolnton, won her battle with Alzheimer’s, on March 14, 2013, when she passed peacefully from this world as her children sang some of her favorite gospel music.
The family will celebrate her life by receiving friends and family at Antioch Baptist Church from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013. Following visitation, her home-going celebration will be officiated by Rev. Todd Garren and Rev. Ernie Richards, with the burial following at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
She spent her working career at Trendline Furniture and Freightliner. After retirement, she dedicated fifteen years of service to Christian Ministries’ Meals on Wheels as a driver and team coordinator. As a member of Antioch Baptist Church, she supported the church with her service as a Sunday School teacher, served on many committees and blessed the services with her beautiful alto voice.
She was a wonderful wife to her loving husband of 60 years, Milas L. Beal, who survives her; as well as a supportive and loving mother to her children, Rhonda Little and husband, Don, of Huntersville, Tracy Beal and wife, Cressey, of Lincolnton, Stacy Lane and husband, Al, of Iron Station. She was blessed with six grandchildren, Trent Little, Lauren Little, Aleah Wolfe, Brian Lane, Caleb Beal and Matthew Lenox as well as three great grandchildren (Gracyn, Rylen and Avery).
She was preceded in death by her father, Alexander Brevard Whitesides; her mother, Ola Norwood Whitesides Crouse; four brothers and three sisters.

Alice Louise Williams Clanton
Alice Louise Williams Clanton, our mother went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 13, 2013. Born in Lincoln County on December 31, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Peterson Williams and Della McAlister Williams, and was also preceded in death by her late husband, C F Clanton Jr. She lived an extraordinary life so well for so long. Alice was passionate about her church, the flowers and vegetables she grew, the cakes she baked, and her family and friends.
Alice gave us much love and beautiful memories to hold dear, and we will miss her very much.
Surviving are sons, Fred Clanton and wife Connie of Ocean Isle Beach and John Sidney Clanton and wife Karen of Charlotte. Also surviving are four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Boger City Baptist Church at 1 p.m. with Rev. Bill Bigham officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will have a visitation this evening from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Boger City Baptist Church.

Rickey Lee Edwards
Rickey Lee Edwards, age 47, of Lincolnton passed away March 13, 2013.
Born January 1, 1966 in Gaston County, he was the son of the late Marlon Lee Edwards and Jean Nolen Edwards.
Survivors include a son, Rowdy Lee Edwards of Lincolnton; two daughters, Samantha Fay Edwards of Lincolnton and Misty Edwards Callister and her husband Robbie of Lincolnton; mother, Jean Nolen Edwards of Lincolnton; sister, Terry Edwards Branham and Danny Johnson of Eden; brother, William Lee Edwards; niece, Jacklyn Nicole Jones; and three nephews, Chance Branham, Matthew Lee Edwards, and Eric Lee Edwards.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Highland Drive Freewill Baptist with Rev. Kenneth Mitchem officiating. Burial will follow in Asbury United Methodist Church cemetery. The family will have a visitation on Monday, one hour prior to the service at the church.

Miss Paulene ‘Pene’ K. Howell
CHERRYVILLE — Miss Paulene “Pene” K. Howell, 91, of Sipe St. Kings Mountain, formerly of Lee Black Rd., Cherryville died March 13, 2013. She was born in Gaston Co. on May 18, 1921 a daughter of the late John Franklin and Bessie Strickland Howell. Pene was a member of Second Baptist Church and a retired Registered Nurse at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by three sisters Irma Ledwell, Virginia Towery and Roberta Yount.
Survivors include three nephews, Terry Yount and wife Kathy of Vale, John L. Yount and wife Barbara of Terrell, and Harold Yount and wife Anita of Cherryville.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Lail and Rev. Ken Gibson officiating. Burial will be in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

Robert Wayne Carswell

Robert Wayne Carswell, Ph. D., 80, passed away March 10, 2013.
A funeral service was held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Columbia, S.C. with Rev. Dr. Richard R. Campbell Sr. and Rev. Karen S. Hawkins officiating. Burial was Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 4 p.m. at Hollybrook Cemetery, Lincolnton.
Dr. Carswell was born and lived in Vale until finishing high school. He graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne University and Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary, and completed his doctoral degree in clinical psychology at the University of South Carolina.
For 15 years he served as a Lutheran pastor in Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina. As owner of Carswell & Associates, Inc. (1977-2010), he was a management consultant and psychological testing specialist. During this time he also authored numerous management resource manuals.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth C. Carswell, a daughter and son-in-law, two granddaughters and a grandson. He was predeceased by a son.
Bob was respected and loved by family and friends for his patience, caring and insightful guidance.
