A Lincolnton woman and Cleveland County Certified Public Accountant died Thursday morning after her vehicle struck a utility pole and tree before overturning, troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said.
Kimberly Watson, 34, wasn’t traveling at excessive speeds around 7:30 a.m. when she ran off the right side of the road and slammed into a nearby pole and tree, according to Cleveland County Trooper J. Deaton.
“There’s no evidence of gross, excessive speed,” he told the Times-News.
Deaton said the incident happened on South Post Road in Patterson Springs.
The woman worked at a CPA at Watson, Triplett and Smith CPA in Shelby, troopers said.
Alcohol was also not a factor in the crash.
Watson’s death is the second wreck fatality in Cleveland County this year, Deaton said.
