The East Lincoln Mustangs varsity baseball team opened Southern Piedmont 1A/2A Conference play with a 2-0 victory over Lake Norman Charter on Friday.
Darin Salter started on the mound for the Mustangs (4-1, 1-0) and earned his second win of the season in three innings with two hits and no runs. Danny Sullivan pitched three relief innings with one hit and three strikeouts. Addison Parrish earned his second save of the year in one inning with no runs and two hits.
Sullivan scored leadoff batter Clay Hodges with an RBI-single in the first inning. Carson Philemon scored on a fielder’s choice by Nick Savoie in the second.
“Always great to start conference play in the win column,” East Lincoln head coach Chris Matile said in an email. “Got a strong performance by our three senior pitchers, and our defense was flawless making no errors on the night.”
Sullivan went 2-3 at the plate with an RBI. Hodges went 1-3 with a run scored and Philemon was 1-1 with a run scored.
