Earl Thomas ‘Tom’ Lunceford, 76, of Rusk, Tex. died March 5, 2013.
A graveside service will held today at 2 p.m. in Providence Cemetery, Jacksonville, Tex.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Lunceford of the home; two daughters, Deborah Halsey and Mary Ann Lunceford; two sisters, Mary Lauer of Shelby and Rachel Orsak of Rusk, Tex.; four brothers, Claude Lunceford of Harper Woods, Mich., Charlie Lunceford of Iron Station, Earl McNeil Lunceford of Iron Station and Lane Lunceford of Shelby; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Frances Bynum Gantt
Frances Bynum Gantt, age 73, of 1194 Brookhaven Drive in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, March 6, 2013.
Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Michael Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. this evening at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gantt was born January 5, 1940 in Lincoln County to the late Kenneth and Virginia Pate Bynum. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Chris Gantt. She worked as a secretary for over 25 years for Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband, James A. Gantt of the home; one son, Jonathan Gantt and wife Pam of Lincolnton; a sister, Marilyn Barker of Fort Mill, S.C.; and a grandson, Nathan Gantt.

Vivian Madeline Leonard Hoyle
Vivian Madeline Leonard Hoyle, age 98, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Brian Center in Lincolnton.
Her funeral service will be 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Highway 182, Lincolnton, where she was a member. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. this evening at Warlick Funeral Home.
Born in western Lincoln County in 1914, she was the fourth of seven children of the late Oscar Olando and Alice Goins Leonard. She was also preceded in death by her husband, J. Tom Hoyle; brothers, Roland Leonard, Zur Leonard, and Joe A. Leonard; and sisters, Dare L. Jarrett and Frances L. Rhodes Yoder as well as an infant granddaughter. Her occupation was in textiles, and she retired from Crown Converting in 1977 as a yarn inspector. Vivian was a 1932 graduate of Union High School and a member of Daniels United Church of Christ until it was dissolved.
She is survived by one son, Johnny and wife, Ellen; one grandson, Adam; one sister, Nell Stroud all of Lincolnton; and a special cousin, Helen Jonas of Vale.

John Henry Huss
Mr. John Henry Huss, age 65, of the Heath House in Lincolnton, and formerly of Crouse, died on Wednesday, March 6, 2013.
His funeral service will be 4 p.m. today in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darrell Bost officiating. Burial will follow in the Leonard’s Fork Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Huss was born September 7, 1947 in Lincoln County to the late N.C. Huss Sr. and Sarah Reep Huss. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers, Boyce Huss and Roger Huss; sisters, Thelma Hoyle and Blanche Black. He worked at Vermont American.
He is survived by two daughters, Tina H. Heafner and husband Scott of Lincolnton and Haylee Harrelson and husband Clay of Cherryville; four grandchildren, Chase Heafner, Logan Heafner, Judd Harrelson, and Zander Harrelson; five brothers, N.C. Huss Jr. of Lincolnton, Harry Huss, Edwin Huss, and Donald Huss, all of Crouse, and Ben Reep of High Shoals; and three sisters, Christine Dixon of Crouse, Mable Greene of Shelby, and Marie Sigmon of Cherryville.

Mitchell Allen Merck
Mitchell Allen Merck, 79, of Iron Station beloved husband of Yvonne Watson Merck, passed away at his home March 7, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 11, 1933 to the late Jule W. Merck and Corrie Mitchell Merck of Central, S.C.
Mitchell served in the US Army and later retired from Duke Energy. He was a member of Amity Baptist Church and the Men’s Adult Sunday School Class. He was an avid gardener and loved fishing.
He is survived by two daughters, Deborah Chaney (Bill) of Fuquay Varina, and Diane Reel (Mark) of Iron Station; two sons, Alan Merck (Kelly) of Denver and Brian Merck (Crystal) of Salisbury; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Geneva Gossett and Imogene Head both of Central, S.C.; two brothers, Claude Merck of Greenville, S.C. and Fred Merck of Central, S.C.; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
A funeral service will be held on March 9, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. at Amity Baptist Church in Denver. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 3:15 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. March 10, 2013 at Memory Gardens in Clemson, S.C.
