Sandra Bolick

Sandra Carol Williams Bolick, 49, of Catawba died March 2, 2013.

A funeral service will be held March 6, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Olivet Baptist Church in Catawba. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the church.

Cecil M. Shook

Cecil McDewy Shook, 80, of Claremont died March 2, 2013.

A funeral service will be held March 5, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Oxford Baptist Church, Conover. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Burke Mortuary, Newton.

Robert Blalock

Robert Lee Blalock, 90, of Claremont died March 1, 2013.

A funeral service will be held March 5, 2013 at 2 p.m. at May’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Maiden. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at May’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

Thomas Lee ‘Tommy’ Morrison

Mr. Thomas Lee “Tommy” Morrison, age 64, of 1691 Highway 27 West in Lincolnton, died on Friday, March 1, 2013.

His funeral service was 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2013 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Shrum officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church cemetery. The family received friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 pm on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Morrison was born May 6, 1948 in Lincoln County to the late Tom and Nadine Johnson Morrison.  He served in the United States Army and then later worked as a route salesman for Pet Dairy for 36 years. He was known at work for his honesty and loyalty and to his family, he was known for his kindness.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Cynthia Peeler Morrison of the home; a daughter, Casey Morrison Powell and husband Michael of Vale; four brothers, Doug Morrison and Richard Morrison, both of Lincolnton, Jimmy Morrison of Vale, and Dale Morrison; two grandchildren, the apples of his eye, Cayden and Bryson Powell; and father-in-law, John Peeler of Lincolnton.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Lincoln County, 107 N. Cedar Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092, or to the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 43, Crouse, NC  28033.

Mitchell ‘Mickey’ Rhyne Blanton

MAIDEN — Mr. Mitchell “Mickey” Rhyne Blanton, age 67, of 3627 Startown Road in Maiden died on Friday, March 1, 2013 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.

His funeral will be 2 p.m. today in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alan McCoy officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at Warlick Funeral Home.  At all other times the family will be at the home of his mother-in-law, Rosa Childers Weaver, 56 South Hildebran Avenue in Newton.

Mr. Blanton was born on June 28, 1945 in Cleveland County and was the son of the late CR and Alice Green Blanton.  He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam War.  Mr. Blanton was retired from the furniture industry.  He loved watching sports, especially the Panthers and Tar Heels.

He is survived by his wife Joyce Elaine Childers Blanton of the home; one daughter, Michelle B. Sigmon and husband Gary of Lawndale; one brother, Bobby W. Blanton Sr. and wife Ann of Lincolnton; one nephew, Bobby W. Blanton Jr. of Lincolnton; one niece, Charity Kijesky of Lincolnton; great niece, Cody Blanton of Lincolnton; mother-in-law, Rosa Childers Weaver of Newton.

Larry Tucker

Larry J. Tucker, age 65, of Lincolnton passed away Friday, March 1, 2013 at his residence.

Born June 13, 1947 in Henderson Co., he was the son of the late Lucious Tucker and Mary Faucette Tucker. Larry was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Lincolnton and was a veteran of the US Army serving in Vietnam.

In addition to his parents, a stepdaughter, Annette Barker and sister, Maria Parrish preceded him in death.

Survivors include wife of 20 years, Jean Tucker of the home; one daughter, Tympar Jane Tucker; one stepson, Robert Muse and wife, Shelia of Denver; four grandchildren, Haley Barker Glass, Kayce Muse, Martina Muse, Robert Colt Muse; one brother, Jerry Tucker of Henderson; one sister, Ann Hedgepath of Henderson; two nephews; three nieces.

A memorial service will be held today at 3 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church in Lincolnton with the Dr. Rev. Randy Setzer officiating. American Legion Post 16 of Newton will perform military honors. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, from 2 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the church.

Ruth Simpson Beam

CHERRYVILLE — Ruth Simpson Beam, age 76, of Tot Dellinger Road, died March 2, 2013 at Carolina Medical Center, Charlotte.  Ruth was born in Gaston County on December 13, 1936 a daughter of the late Webb Simpson Jr. and Nettie Banner Griffith Simpson. She was retired from White Oak Manor in Shelby and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Pratt Beam, a brother Ray Simpson and a sister Dorothy Simpson.

Survivors include three daughters, Jody Beam Browne of Cherryville, Kenny Mosteller (Tracy) of Cherryville, Wendy Gilbert (Garland) of Lincolnton; five grandchildren, Jason Browne, Blair Browne, Blake Mosteller, Alston Mosteller, Gaston Gilbert; a sister Christine Wilson of Gastonia.

Funeral services will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Wayne Key and Rev. Jerry Lail, Rev. Ken Gibson, officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends this evening at Carpenter’s Funeral and Cremation Services from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Frances Rhyne Black

Mrs. Frances Rhyne Black, 81, of 2901 Wesleyan Ch. Rd., Lincolnton passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013 at her residence.

Frances was born in Lincoln County on May 8, 1931 a daughter of the late Earl Edward Rhyne and Ruth Loftin Rhyne. She was a homemaker and an active member of Covenant Bible Church in Lincolnton and served the church in many capacities.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years Robert Clarence Black of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Bob Black and Becky of Maiden; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy Black Mosteller and Hal and Barbara Black Saunders and husband Randy all of Lincolnton; eight grandchildren, Diana, Melody, Randy, David, Michael, Charlie, Matthew and Bryan and eight great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held today at 4 p.m. at Covenant Bible Church with the Rev. David H. Herbertson officiating. Visitation will be immediately following the service and at other times the family will be at the home. Burial will be in the Black family section of City Memorial Cemetery, Cherryville.

Ronald Lynn Treadway

Ronald Lynn Treadway, age 64 of 2268 Tailwater Road, Newton, died Sunday, March 3, 2013 at his residence.  Ronald was born in Fayette County, W.Va. on November 1, 1948, the son of the late Sylvester Ronald Treadway, and Lora Fay Craft Treadway, of Fayetteville, W.Va.  Ronald formerly owned and operated R & S Angus Farms and Ron’s Welding Service, in Newton.

Survivors include in addition to his mother, Mrs. Lora Fay Treadway; wife, Mrs. Sharon Walberg Treadway of the home; two sons, Ronny Treadway (Lisa) of Crouse, Scott Treadway (Barbara) of Newton; daughters, Wendy Livengood (Jeffery) of Crouse, Dawn Treadway of Harrisburg, Anita Kranake of Sheridan,  Mo.; two brothers; six sisters; 12 grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his father and one sister.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Cone Memorial Chapel of Carpenter’s Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Lail officiating; burial will follow in the Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at Carpenter’s Funeral and Cremation Services in Cherryville from 2:30 p.m. until 4:15 p.m.

The family will be at the home in Newton and also at home of his son, Ronny Treadway, 5049 Deer Run, Crouse, N. C.
