Blood drives
Community Blood Center of the Carolinas will host blood drives 9-11 a.m. and 5-7 p.m. at the Lincoln County YMCA, 1402 E. Gaston St. in Lincolnton. For more information, call (704) 972-4700.

Basic Skills Orientation
The Gaston College-Lincoln Campus will host a four-day Basic Skills New Student Orientation class 9 a.m. to noon and 5:30-8:30 p.m. today through Feb. 28 for anyone interested in obtaining a GED or adult high school diploma. Diabetes talk
CMC-Lincoln will host “Diabetes: Know the Heart Part” 6 p.m. in the Dogwood Room of the Lincoln Medical Plaza, 441 McAlister Rd. in Lincolnton, for heart health month. Poet laureate visit

Curriculum Fair
West Lincoln High School, 172 Shoal Rd. in Lincolnton, will host a Curriculum Fair 6-7:30 p.m. Displays will be on hand from all the high school’s academic departments along with Lincoln County School of Technology and Gaston College. For more information, call (704) 736-1017.

Lake Norman RPO
The Lake Norman Rural Planning Organization’s Transportation Advisory Committee will meet 7 p.m. at the James W. Warren Citizens Center in Lincolnton to discuss the following topics: the Mooresville Comprehensive Transportation Plan, approval of socio-economic projections, the Lincolnton Comprehensive Transportation Plan and the slate of officers for 2013.

Theatre Guild show
Tickets are now available for the Lincoln Theatre Guild’s upcoming presentation of Cotton Patch Gospel March 1-2 and 8-10 at the Lincoln Cultural Center in Lincolnton. A special senior citizens show will be March 3, and tickets for this show are available free at the the Lincoln County Senior Center on S. Aspen St. in Lincolnton.

Bead Group
Register now to attend the Lincolnton Bead Group 10 a.m. March 4 at the James W. Warren Citizens Center in Lincolnton. An instructor from Belmont will bring a variety of items to help you design and create a piece of jewelry. The event is sponsored by the Lincoln County Cooperative Extension. The Lincoln County Community Foundation is currently accepting applications from eligible organizations (i.e. nonprofit organizations, congregations, governmental and educational insititutions) for their 2013 Grants Program. Deadline to submit applications is noon March 29.
