Schools official resigns; wife issued criminal summons

Lincoln County Schools Facilities Director Darrell Gettys has resigned, according to Board of Education Chair Candy Burgin.
“I can confirm that Mr. Gettys has resigned effective (Tuesday) to pursue other avenues,” Burgin wrote in an email. “The Board wishes him the best. We will be working closely with (Superintendent Dr. Sherry Hoyle) to ensure all current projects are being managed.”
It’s unclear how the resignation relates to a criminal summons issued to Crystal Gettys, Darrell’s wife, who is assistant director and business development director for the Lincoln Economic Development Association.
David Lutz, a former employee of Darrell Gettys, swore out a statement against Crystal Gettys late Monday at the magistrate’s office, accusing her of misdemeanor communicating threats.
According to the summons, Lutz claims she threatened him, saying “I’ll get you, you’ll be sorry, I’ll ruin your life.”
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has said it’s not conducting an investigation of those allegations and the matter is between Lutz and Crystal Gettys. The matter has been assigned a March 1 court date.
