City of Lincolnton Parks & Rec youth soccer
The City of Lincolnton Parks and Recreation will be accepting soccer registration for the 2013 Youth Spring Soccer League on Saturday. Registration for the league will be held at the William Lentz Recreation Center at Betty G. Ross Park between 9 a.m.-noon. The league is for boys and girls ages 4-14 years old (must have been born on or after July 1, 1998). Registration for the league is $30 per child for city residents and $45 for non-city residents.
The Recreation department is also seeking persons interested in being volunteer coaches for the youth soccer league. Persons interested in coaching may contact the department to receive a volunteer coach’s application and to learn more about the position. Lincoln County Parks & Rec softball
Lincoln County Parks & Recreation is going to have a women’s softball meeting on February 19th at 7:00 at the East LincolnCommunity Center, 8160 Optimist Club Road Denver NC, for anyone interested in playing in our all women softball league this spring. East Lincoln High School’s cross-country team and Cowan’s Ford Country Club are hosting the Valentine’s 5K couples and fun run on Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
The race is the first of the Lincoln County Grand Prix circuit and runs alongside Lake Norman and the Cowan’s Ford golf course.
Proceeds benefit Operation Homefront, an organization that assists North Carolina military families.
Registration costs $20 for individuals and $35 for couples until Feb. 4. Runners can register online at www.denvernc.com/valentime5k.
WL sportsmanship meeting
West Lincoln will hold its sportsmanship meeting for athletes and parents for the upcoming spring season at 6 p.m. on Feb. 26. The meeting will be held in the new gym.
The Denver Basketball League is holding upcoming evaluations for athletes. The league is for both boys and girls from 5th-12th grade. The season runs from mid-March through early June.
Players will be evaluated on Mar. 7 at 6:30 p.m. (fourth and fifth grade boys) and 7:30 p.m. (sixth and seventh grade boys), Mar. 8 at 6:30 p.m. (eighth and ninth grade boys) and 7:30 p.m. (10th and 12th grade boys) and Mar. 9 at 10 a.m. (5th-12th grade girls).
