The Lincoln County Board of Realtors awarded its top honor for last year to the youngest-ever recipient.
Anna Deal Wiseman of REMAX Crossroads in Lincolnton was recently named the 2012 “Realtor of the Year.”
Wiseman, who has been in real estate for about eight years, told the Times-News on Monday that the recognition came as a shock, with plenty of other “worthy people” she thought were deserving.
“It was pretty awesome,” she said, noting that she was both humbled and honored to receive the award
She described it as the “biggest achievement” the board gives out.
Wiseman serves on the board of directors and has chaired and worked on many committees, having done so since she first embarked on her career.
“I jumped in,” she added of her early involvement.
This has allowed her to see what the Board of Realtors does for the local community, including donating to Habitat for Humanity and helping clients with zoning issues.
Real estate was something Wiseman, a graduate of Lincolnton High School and then Meredith College, said she stumbled upon.
However, after selling her first house within just 30 days in the business, Wiseman said, she had found her calling.
While she describes her job as fun, it is also proving to be rewarding, especially, she noted, when helping both buyers and sellers get better deals than expected.
Wiseman was married in November, and the couple has recently purchased a home of their own.
