The East Lincoln Mustangs boys varsity basketball team took a 55-49 win over the Highland Tech Rams to maintain their position as the top-seeded 2A team in the Southern Piedmont 1A/2A Conference on Tuesday.
East Lincoln (16-6, 9-4) freshman Chazz Surratt finished with a team-high 21 points. Charlie Hills scored 12 points and Domonique Smith added 10 points.
The Rams (8-13, 7-6) led 15-7 after the first quarter but the Mustangs outscored Highland Tech 22-8 in the second to take a 29-23 lead at the halftime break.
The Mustangs maintained their lead by outscoring the Rams 13-10 in the third quarter and then matching Highland Tech 13-13 in the fourth.
Kameron Harper scored a game-high 24 points for Highland Tech, with six 3-pointers. Josh Neely scored 13 points for the Rams.
East Lincoln closes out the season on the road against the North Lincoln Knights on Friday.
The Mustangs beat the Knights 67-53 in the first meeting between the two teams this season on Jan. 18.
East Lincoln senior Tyler Brock led the way for the Mustangs in that game, with 23 points and five 3-pointers.
Highland Tech closes out the regular season at Cherryville on Friday.
