Window for kindergarten registration set to open

LTN Staff Reports

Kindergarten registration for Lincoln County Schools gets under way a week from today, continuing on through March 18.

Children who will turn five years old on or before Aug. 31 will need to be registered during this period, with parents required to sign their children up at the school they will be attending.

Registration for first-graders new to Lincoln County Schools will also take place at this time.

The following items must be presented to register a child:

  • A certified copy of the child’s birth certificate
  • Proof of residency
  • Documented evidence of immunizations, as per state law (Contact a health care provider or the county’s Health Department with specific questions regarding this requirement.)
  • A health assessment, completed by a health care provider prior to the start of school but no later than 30 days after school begins (Failure to provide this information will result in the child being excluded from school. Assessment forms are available at each school — all sections of which, including developmental, hearing and vision, must be completed.)

Parents of children who need immunizations or a health assessment should complete these requirements prior to the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year.

Once their children are registered for kindergarten, parents can schedule an appointment for DIAL screening at the school their child will be attending. Below are the scheduled dates for screenings at each school site:

  • April 10, 11 – Childers
  • April 15, 16 – North Brook
  • April 17, 18 – Union
