Fenn completes basic training
Air Force Airman 1st Class Victoria L. Fenn graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Fenn is the daughter of Stacey and Aaron Glance of Gaston-Webbs Chapel Road in Lincolnton.
She is a 2012 graduate of West Lincoln High School.

DENR employee gets governor’s award
Tullie Johnson, a native of Cherryville and employee of the N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources, was honored with a Governor’s Award for Excellence for her public service late last year.
Johnson is the coordinator of volunteers and interns at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, where she was first hired in 1988.
Johnson helped recruit and coordinate more than 3,000 volunteers to make the 24-hour grand-opening celebration of the Nature Research Center a success.
Johnson is the daughter of the late Mark and LD Clark Hoyle.
