School supplies needed
The Lincolnton Lions Club is collecting school supplies this month for Lincoln County Schools. A drop box is located at King’s Office Supply in Lincolnton. Some of the supplies needed include blunt student scissors, ball point pens (red & black), colored pencils, glue sticks, 3-ring notebooks, highlighters, wide-ruled paper and No. 2 pencils.

Community bingo
Kindred Healthcare Lincoln, 1410 E. Gaston St. in Lincolnton, will host bingo at 10 a.m. with prizes and a light snack. For more information, call June Loftin or Janice Beckham at (704) 732-1138.

Children’s art display
The Lincoln Cultural Center, 403 E. Main St. in Lincolnton, will display artwork from the children of A Place to Grow preschool in Lincolnton starting 10 a.m. today with an opening reception. Sr. Valentine Party

Breakfast buffet
Marvin UMC on Startown Rd. in Lincolnton will host a breakfast buffet 7-10 a.m. with proceeds benefiting the parsonage fund.

Food giveaway
Daniels Lutheran Church, 3170 Reepsville Rd. in Lincolnton, will host its next Bread of Life Food Giveaway 9-11 a.m. Recipients must be residents of Lincoln County and complete a short form for a 50-pound food box. Families who already qualify for food stamps or Lincoln County Christian Ministry assistance automatically qualify for a food box. Purse/handbag sale
Pisgah UMC in Lincolnton will host a purse, scarves and handbag sale 9 a.m. to noon to benefit Relay for Life.

Fundraiser breakfast
Long Shoals Baptist Church, 2988 Long Shoals Rd. in Lincolnton, will host a fundraiser benefit for Johnny and Cheryl Owens 9-11 a.m. Dine-in or take-out options will be available.

Store anniversary event
The Penny Thrift Store, 532 S. N.C. 27 in Stanley, will celebrate its one-year anniversary 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the store’s popular Penny Bag Sale, in which shoppers will only pay $0.01 per item. Additional items in the store will be half off. Proceeds from the store benefit The King’s Daughters’ Ministry, a residential program that provides counseling, education and daily life skills training to hurting and troubled women, and is located in Stanley. Benefit car wash
Without Walls Freedom Center in Lincolnton will host a benefit car wash starting 10 a.m. at O’ Reilly Auto Parts, 904 E. Main St. in Lincolnton. All proceeds will benefit mission efforts in Cameroon, Africa. Call (704) 240-4411 for more info.

Valentine gift-making

Fundraiser meal
A benefit fundraiser for Darrell “Doc” Ledbetter will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the North 321 VFD, 3769 Maiden Hwy. in Lincolnton. Dine in and carry out options are available.

Church supper/concert
Living Word Ministries of Lake Norman, 1062 N.C. 16 S. in Lowesville, will host supper at 4:45 p.m. followed by Boone-based group, the Mylon Hayes Family, in concert at 6 p.m.

Fellowship meal
Laboratory UMC, 1850 Bill Lynch Rd. in Lincolnton, will host a fellowship meal at 6 p.m. Donations will be accepted.
