School supplies needed
The Lincolnton Lions Club is collecting school supplies this month for Lincoln County Schools. A drop box is located at King’s Office Supply in Lincolnton. Some of the supplies needed include blunt student scissors, ball point pens (red & black), colored pencils, glue sticks, 3-ring notebooks, highlighters, wide-ruled paper and No. 2 pencils.

Children’s art display
The Lincoln Cultural Center, 403 E. Main St. in Lincolnton, will display artwork from the children of A Place to Grow preschool in Lincolnton starting 10 a.m. today with an opening reception. Families who already qualify for food stamps or Lincoln County Christian Ministry assistance automatically qualify for a food box. Store anniversary event
The Penny Thrift Store, 532 S. N.C. 27 in Stanley, will celebrate its one-year anniversary 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the store’s popular Penny Bag Sale, in which shoppers will only pay $0.01 per item. Additional items in the store will be half off. Proceeds from the store benefit The King’s Daughters’ Ministry, a residential program that provides counseling, education and daily life skills training to hurting and troubled women, and is located in Stanley.
