The West Lincoln Lady Rebels girls varsity basketball team fell to first-place Lake Norman Charter 49-37 on Tuesday.
Lake Norman Charter (15-4, 10-1 Southern Piedmont 1A/2A Conference) held an 8-6 lead at the end of the first quarter, and took advantage of a West Lincoln scoring drought near the end of the second to take a 23-14 halftime lead.
Lake Norman Charter outscored West Lincoln 15-8 in the third quarter but went cold in the fourth. The Lady Rebels outscored Lake Norman Charter 15-11 in the final period.
The Lady Rebels (9-10, 7-4) were led on offense by freshman Erin Huff’s 15 points as the only West Lincoln player to score in double digits.
Senior post Rylee Marsh added eight points, senior wing Rebecca Owens added five and senior Brittany Ormand scored four.
The Lady Rebels travel to North Lincoln on Friday. Lake Norman Charter travels to Highland Tech.
