The Lake Norman Charter Knights boys varsity basketball team took a 58-49 win over the East Lincoln Mustangs for first place in the Southern Piedmont Conference on Friday.
The Mustangs (14-5, 7-3) led 25-20 at halftime but Lake Norman Charter outscored East Lincoln 19-9 in the third quarter and 19-15 in the fourth quarter to take the win.
East Lincoln freshman Chazz Surratt scored a game-high 20 points as the only Mustang to score in double digits. Charlie Hills scored eight points, Domonique Smith added six points and Tyler Brock scored five points.
Malik McCormick led Lake Norman Charter with 18 points. Jamon Cunningham scored 13 of his 14 points in the second half.
The Mustangs travel to Cherryville on Tuesday. Lake Norman Charter travels to West Lincoln on Tuesday.
