A 44-year-old Lincolnton man is accused of sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl last year at a county residence, police detectives said.
Lincolnton officers charged Terry Lee Wilson, of 901 E. Pine Street, on Wednesday with one felony count of first-degree sex offense.
However, additional charges may be filed in the future, according to Det. Ashley Boyles.
Wilson remains in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $75,000 secured bond with his first court appearance set for today.
Wilson has a lengthy criminal rap sheet in the county for multiple drug-related felonies, the North Carolina Department of Correction website showed.
Additional misdemeanor crimes on his record include two instances each of assault on a female and DWI along with resisting an officer, damage to property and various traffic violations.
