Water restrictions
Lincoln County Public Works will start work today on replacing a piece of equipment at the Water Treatment Plant, which will limit the amount of water available to the community for several days. The following restrictions will be in place today through Sunday: no lawn irrigation, no filling of pools or topping off pools, no car washing or pressure washing at homes, no use of water from fire hydrants for any purpose other than firefighting or public emergency. National Pie Day
The N.C. Cooperative Extension Office in Lincoln County will celebrate National Pie Day 12-2 p.m. at the James W. Warren Citizens Center. A variety of baked pie samples will be available.

Fundraising event
Zaxby’s restaurant in Lincolnton will donate 10 percent of all proceeds received from 5-9 p.m. to the Lincoln County Crisis Pregnancy Center.

Kidz Krusade
Daystar Family Worship Center, 115 Industrial Park Rd. in Lincolnton, will host a four-day Kidz Krusade (ages 3-11) 6:30-8:30 p.m. nightly. with registration at 6 p.m. Activities will include music, puppets, clowns, prizes and more. Radar on Radon class

Blood drive

Diabetes/dental disease

Photography Club
The Lincoln Photography Club will meet 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Lincoln Cultural Center, 403 E. Main St. in Lincolnton. The topic will be portrait photography. Individuals are asked to bring camera equipment for hands-on practice.


Student orientation
Register now for Gaston College’s four-day Basic Skills New Student Orientation class for students interested in obtaining a GED or Adult High School diploma. Classes are offered 9 a.m. to noon and 5:30-8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the Gaston College Lincoln Campus. The next orientation will be Jan. 28-31 in Room 118. Individuals must attend the class before taking the test. Also, in 2014, the cost of the GED will go up, the method of testing will be changed, and previous partial test scores will expire.
