Convicted sex offender charged for changing residence

Staff Writer

A convicted sex offender has been charged for failing to register his address with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies charged Kenneth Lee Rinck, Sr., with one felony count of failure to notify a change of address of a sex offender and placed behind bars under a $5,000 secured bond.

Rinck had allegedly been living at home on Hillcrest Road in Dallas but had a Lincolnton address registered with the Sheriff’s Office, the report said.

Neighbors on Moorland Lane in Lincolnton told deputies Rinck moved on Dec. 9.

Detective Matt Burgess located Rinck at the Gaston County residence on Friday.

The suspect has also been charged with one count of probation violation.

The issue of sex offender registration is one that local law enforcement has been taking seriously, resulting in a number of arrests.

Sheriff’s Lt. Tim Johnson, head of criminal investigations, told the Times-News on Tuesday that in 2012, the Sheriff’s Office charged nine sex offenders with either not registering with the agency or failing to register a correct address.
