With the new year will come new hours of operation for the Lincoln County Animal Shelter.
Lisa Douglas, adoption coordinator for the county’s Animal Services, told the Times-News on Wednesday that the shelter will no longer offer extended hours on Thursdays after the first of the year.
“We have decided to make the change because we just aren’t getting enough traffic on Thursday afternoons to justify staying open longer,” she said.
Beginning Jan. 1, the hours of operation will be Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The shelter, located at 650 John Howel Memorial Drive in Lincolnton, had tried out the longer hours on Thursdays for about a year and a half, she said.
Douglas noted that she believes the change in hours will be permanent.
