Board member: Warrant based on false claim

A Lincoln County School Board member faces a criminal accusation of trespassing on a Gaston County man’s property earlier this month, a claim she denies.
Cathy Goodson Davis, 50, of 5461 Reepsville Road in Vale, “unlawfully and willfully did without authorization” access “the premises of William Camp” at 2004 Twin Avenue in Gastonia on Dec. 9, claimed an arrest warrant sworn out by Camp without law enforcement involvement.
The property is a “residential treatment facility” for “emotionally disturbed children,” according to the USA Health Care Guide website.
Davis said the allegations are false.
She told the Times-News a friend alerted her to the existing warrant the night of Dec. 14. After contacting her attorney, Todd Pomeroy of The Jonas Law Firm in Lincolnton, she and Pomeroy met at the Lincoln County courthouse the following morning.
“We appeared before a magistrate to take care of the formalities,” she stated in an email to the Times-News.
She but directed all further questions about the incident to Pomeroy, who could not be reached for comment.
