Anthony Wayne Haithcox

Anthony Wayne Haithcox “Tony,” 64, of 222 Springs East Road, Lincolnton was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 14, 2012.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 4 p.m. today at St. Matthew’s United Church of Christ in Maiden.

Tony was born in Statesville on January 21, 1948 to the late Frank and Julia Lowery Haithcox. He proudly served his country in the US Army and worked as a truck driver and a cook. He will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his wife, Vada Harless Haithcox.

Survivors include his sons, Wayne Haithcox and wife Amy of Ft. Royal Va., Allen Haithcox and girlfriend Tina Moore of Lincolnton; daughter, Melissa Haithcox and boyfriend Chris Ingle of the home; six grandchildren, Brian Haithcox, Logan Haithcox, Michael Kaufhold, Joseph Haithcox, Christopher Ingle, Serria Hendricks; brother, Frank Haithcox and wife Sue of Oak Island; sister, Carole Jones and husband Roger of Little River, S.C.; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Memorials in Tony’s honor may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Lincoln County.

Martha Carolyn Davis Gross

Mrs. Martha Carolyn Gross, age 76, of Lincolnton, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2012.

Mom was a beloved homemaker, mother, grandmother, married 52 years and widow to her late husband, Frederick Allen Gross.

In addition to her parents Clayton and Clara (Swallow) Davis she was preceded in death by sisters, Barbara Bacon, Sally Seward, Mary Haithwaite and brother, Archer Davis.

She is survived by sisters, Ann Butterfield of Billerica, Mass., Marjorie Shea of Westford, Mass.; brother, Clifton Davis of Dunstable, Mass.; children, Mark and his wife Robin, Wesley and his wife Janet, Chris and his wife Pam; grandchild, Eric and his wife Felicia; step grandchildren, Shar and Chad Kiser; and four step great grandchildren.

A receiving of friends will begin at 2 p.m. today at Boger City United Methodist Church, Lincolnton followed by a 3 p.m. memorial service at the same location.

In lieu of sending flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Boger City United Methodist Church, 2320 E. Main Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092

A special thanks from the caregivers to those who helped along the way, Lincoln Medical Group, CMC Lincoln, Hospice of Catawba County, neighbors, brothers and sisters in Christ from Boger City United Methodist Church.

The family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Valdese Family Funeral Care and Perfect Peace Cremations.


Conley L. Moffett

Conley L. Moffett, 80, of Annadale, Va. died December 16, 2012.

Funeral services will be December 20, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Cone Memorial Chapel of Carpenter’s Funeral Home, Cherryville. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Carpenter’s Funeral Home, Cherryville is serving the Moffett family.


Bob Buff

Robert Sloan Buff Jr., 73, of Cherryville died December 17, 2012.

Funeral services will be held December 21, 2012 at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends December 20, 2012 at the home on Mountain St. from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Katharina Winken Jung

Katharina Winken Jung, 89, of Catawba died December 14, 2012.

A memorial service was held December 18, 2012 at 7 p.m. at Goodin-Drum Funeral Home. The family received friends immediately following the service.

Goodin-Drum Funeral Home is serving the Jung family.


Lula Bell Gibson Mims

Lula Bell Gibson Mims, 93, died December 17, 2012.

Funeral services will be held December 20, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Gold Hill Missionary Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.

Stella Honeycutt Isenhour

Stella Honeycutt Isenhour, 93, of Newton died December 14, 2012.

A funeral service will be held December 22, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Newton. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park, Hickory. The family will receive friends on December 22, 2012 from 1:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the church, prior to the service.
