Dayna Yandle Carpenter
Dayna Yandle Carpenter, 47, died Saturday, December 8, 2012.
She was born in Augusta, Ga., daughter of Marilyn McElwaine Yandle of Charlotte and the late Keith McDonald Yandle.
In addition to her mother she is survived by her former husband, David Carpenter; brother, Kerry Yandle and wife Tracy of Lincolnton; a niece, Abby Yandle of Gastonia; and a nephew, Kyle Yandle of Lincolnton.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Ms. Carpenter will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly.

Mrs. Ola RuBith ‘Beattie’ Schism Smith
IRON STATION — Mrs. Ola RuBith “Beattie” Schism Smith, age 71, of 3793 E. Highway 27 in Iron Station died Saturday, December 8, 2012.
Her funeral will be 3 p.m. today in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Brittain officiating. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Smith was born in Lincoln County on June 30, 1941 to the late William and Nancy Carpenter Schism. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son Kenneth William Smith. She was retired from textiles.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, David W. Smith of the home; one daughter, Bobbie Jane Morrison of Lincolnton; one brother, William Carroll Schism of Lincolnton; three grandsons, Joshua Beal, Nathan Morrison and Shawn Morrison.

Florene Propst Land
HICKORY – Florene Propst Land, 82, lifelong resident of Hickory, died on December 7, 2012 at the Brian Center in Lincolnton.
Born on January 4, 1930 in Catawba County she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Bessie Barger Propst. Florene was an active member of Temple Baptist Church in Hickory. She worked as a bookkeeper for many businesses including Steele Rolane Gas and Holiday Inn. She retired after many years of dedicated service. She volunteered her tax expertise helping senior citizens. Florene learned to swim in her 50’s, winning gold medals in Senior Olympic Games. She enjoyed traveling and helping others.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn A. Land, and her siblings, Loyd Propst, Yates Propst, Edith Leatherman, Cecile Kiziah, Orin Propst, and Rachel Williams.
Florene is survived by close friend, Teiko Hollar; nephews and nieces, Shirley Havnaer of Hickory, Gerald Leatherman and Michael Leatherman of Newton, Bobbie Robinson of Lincolnton, Brenda Hess of Ocean Isle, Billy Propst of Tex., Ronald Kiziah of Lenoir, Tony Kiziah of Charlotte, Lindsey Williams Jr. of Tenn., Bryan Williams of Ala., Kim Dalton of Pa., and Donna Williams of Ala.; and many special great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Catawba Funerals & Cremations. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

Helena Louise Phillips Jones, age 64, of 6717 Charleston Trail in Cherryville, died on Thursday, December 6, 2012.
Her funeral service was 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at the West Side House of Prayer with Rev. Todd Auton officiating. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family received friends from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, December 9, 2012 prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Jones was born July 20, 1947 in Washington, DC to the late Richard Guy and Louise Elizabeth Reed Phillips. She loved to crochet, watch classic movies, her church, her flowers, and her dogs.
She is survived by four daughters, Terrie and Todd Ratliff of Hudson, Fla., Cissy and Charlie Miller and Lea and Johnny Garland, all of Johnson City, Tenn., and Jo and Pete Osatchuck of Cherryville; one son, Chris and Robin Randall of Cherryville; one sister, Karen Lynneettee Smith of Morganton; ten grandchildren, Heather Bollinger, Shannon Bollinger, Cody Miller, Dustin Fleming, Dalton Fleming, Stephanie Ford, Timothy Ford, Allen Fredell, Trey Lail, and Holly Carpenter; eight great-grandchildren, Olivia Johnston, Cadance Stafford, Braylon Stafford, Livia Fredell, Dallas Fredell, Joseph Fredell, Jayda Sigmon, and Dylon Carpenter; and special friend, Harry Letchworth.

A funeral service was held December 9, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at Ivey Memorial United Methodist Church, Maiden. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends, prior to the service, from 1 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.

Mr. DeLorenzo will be laid to rest in his county of birth, Rockland County, N.Y.; there are no services scheduled to be held in North Carolina.
