Women’s conference

Christmas bazaar

Purse sale
Marvin UMC’s Women’s group will host a gently-used purse sale 7-10 a.m. at the church on Startown Rd. in Lincolnton.
All items will be $5, and proceeds will benefit the church’s local mission work.

Women’s conference

Village Christmas
The Gaston County Parks & Recreation Department will host their 5th Annual 1890’s Heritage Village Christmas Celebration 2:30-5:30 p.m. at Dallas Park, 1303 Dallas-Cherryville Hwy. in Dallas.

Girl Scouts of Lincoln County will be “Caroling for Cans” 3-4 p.m. Saturday at Bi-Lo, 427 N. General Blvd. in Lincolnton.
All donations will go to Christian Ministry.

Choir concert

Christmas parade

Memorial service
Hospice and Palliative Care of Lincoln County will host “Light Up a Light Service” 3:30 p.m. at Emanuel Reformed Church, 329 E. Main St. in Lincolnton, for families who have lost a loved one. Activities will include music, readings and a candle lighting.

MONDAY
In My Father’s House
Today is the first day that In My Father’s House Community Support Services Network Inc. will operate its newest location at 7225 N.C. 10 West in Vale. The new location will be open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Monday, and the Lincolnton location will be open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. Library events
The Lincoln County Public Library will host “A Jolly Evening with Mrs. Claus” 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Charles R. Jonas Library in Lincolnton and “Family Story Time with Santa and Mrs. Claus” 6:30-8 p.m. at the Shanklin Library in Denver.

Coalition of Churches
The Coalition of Churches will hold its annual Christmas fellowship 7 p.m. at the Oaklawn School in Lincolnton. Individuals are asked to bring a covered dish. Topics for discussion will include a Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration and Black History Month.

TUESDAY
Lions Club
The Lincolnton Lions Club will meet 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall at First Presbyterian Church, 114 W. Main St. in Lincolnton. The program will consist of a financial donation for Christian Ministry and an awards ceremony recognizing the 2012 Lions Club International Poster Contest winners. Attendants are also encouraged to bring a toy for Christian Ministry. Home Place Restaurant will cater the meeting. Members should contact club treasurer to reserve a plate.

UPCOMING
Toy collection
Denver-based nonprofit, Spreading JOY Corporation, is currently collecting toys for needy area children ages 18 and under. Toys will be handed out Dec. 15 to children of women from the local Battered Women’s Shelter. Items can be dropped off at Sports Clips in Denver. Individuals may also mail donations or toys to Spreading JOY Corporation, P.O. Box 1771, Denver, N.C. 28037 or visit spreading-joy.org and donate using the PayPal button at the top of the page.
