Priscilla Book Club conducts Nov. meeting
The Priscilla Book Club met Nov. 14 at the Lincoln Cultural Center.
Hostess Becky Burke served delicious refreshments, and members enjoyed informal sharing in the Community Room.
President Kay Barefoot opened the meeting with historical information about the first Thanksgiving celebrated on Roanoke Island 37 years before the Massachusetts colony celebration.
After the treasurer’s report and reading of the minutes, President Barefoot presented items of business.
During the program segment of the meeting, Doris Little shared four books about Lincoln County history and introduced Jason Harpe, executive director of the Lincoln County Historical Association.
Mr. Harpe presented an overview of the many activities conducted by the association and led club members on a tour of the center, including the archaeology lab, genealogy library and exhibits throughout the facility.
President Barefoot closed by reading an article in Southern Living, written by Anne Graham Lotz and entitled, “It’s Not Thanksgiving Without…A Moment of Thanks.”
Rose Mary Ball will host for the Dec. 12 meeting, with Nelva Goodson as program leader.
