Scoggins signs with Liberty

Lincoln Charter’s David Scoggins (pictured front, second from left), a 6-foot-3 left-handed pitcher, first baseman and outfielder has signed his National Letter of Intent to play college baseball at the Division I level for Liberty University.

Scoggins has started for the Eagles for the past three seasons and was named the Piedmont Charter Athletic Conference MVP for the 2012 season. Scoggins is the first Lincoln Charter baseball player to sign with a Division I program. He finished the 2012 high school season with a .471 batting average, with 24 hits and 21 RBIs. As a member of the Lincoln County Cardinals American Legion team, Scoggins had a .321 batting average and went 5-3 on the mound with a 2.75 ERA with 30 strikeouts in 49.1 innings pitched.
