$1 sale
Howards Creek Community Center, 508 Howards Creek Sch. Rd. in Lincolnton, will host an “Everything is $1” sale 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through Friday (Nov. 30). Items up for grabs will include women’s and children’s clothing.

THURSDAY

Santa/carriage rides
Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand 4-8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday through Dec. 22 beside the former 36th Street Bakery in downtown Lincolnton. Parlier Carriages will also offer carriage and wagon rides 6-9 p.m. Thursday-Saturday through Dec. 22. Court Street Grille is sponsoring the rides. For more information, call (704) 736-8915.

Hospice month
In honor of National Hospice Month, Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region will host “Dining Out for Hospice” at Fatz Cafe in Lincolnton. Fatz will donate 10-15% of their sales to either Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region, Hospice & Palliative Care Lake Norman, Hospice & Palliative Care Lincoln County or Levine & Dickson Hospice House.

Toy drive
The Denver Fire Department has teamed up with Toys For Tots for their annual toy distribution drive and are asking individuals to drop of new or unwrapped toys to 5-8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Call (704) 483-5115 for additional drop-off dates, times and station locations. Families who wish to receive toys must fill out a form found at any one of the three department stations. Forms may also be downloaded from denverfd.com. Toys will be distributed Dec. 24.

Mr. Scrooge

Crouse UMC, 3311 Crouse School Rd. in Crouse, will host a local artisan craft and bake sale 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sausage biscuits and hot dogs will be available along with a free children’s bread activity 9-11 a.m. followed by a soap-making demonstration.
Portions of the proceeds will benefit church missions.

Medicine drop-off
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office will hold an unwanted medicine drop 9 a.m. to noon at the Charlie District Office on N.C. 16 in Denver.
Acceptable items include over-the-counter medications, vitamins and supplements, liquid medications in leak-proof containers, syringes and ointments, among other items. Individuals may remain anonymous.

Christmas craft show
G. E. Massey Elementary School, 130 Newbold St. in Lincolnton, will host a Christmas craft show 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with various vendors, food and activities for kids.

Clothes giveaway
Northbook Baptist Church, 7421 Flay Rd. in Cherryville, will host a “Free Clothes Giveaway” 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Lions Club
Past District Governor Neal Alexander will induct a new Lincolnton Lions Club member at their meeting 7 p.m. in the Elm Classroom of CMC-Lincoln’s Medical Plaza, 433 McAlister Rd. in Lincolnton. Members and guests who plan to eat should arrive 30 minutes prior to the meeting.
Discussion topics will include the club’s Christmas party/luncheon for Lincoln County’s blind/visually-impaired, which is set for Dec. 8 at Boger City UMC.

Toy collection
Denver-based nonprofit, Spreading JOY Corporation, is currently collecting toys for needy area children ages 18 and under. Toys will be handed out Dec. 15 to children of women from the local Battered Women’s Shelter. Items can be dropped off at Sports Clips in Denver.
