Wade Monroe Hubbard Sr.
DENVER— Wade Monroe Hubbard Sr., age 73, of 6004 King Wilkinson Road in Denver, died on Thursday, November 22, 2012.
His funeral service will be 12 noon on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at New Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Taylor and Rev. Barry Goodman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 atWarlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Hubbard was born July 20, 1939 in Mecklenburg County to the late John Frank and Catherine Janie Fisher Hubbard. He served in the United States Air Force and then later worked as a truck driver for over thirty years. Mr. Hubbard enjoyed preaching and farming.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Babb Hubbard of the home; three sons, Douglas T. Hubbard and wife Sherri of Blacksburg, S.C., Phillip N. Hubbard and wife Lisa of Denver, and Wade M. Hubbard Jr. and wife Christal of Ohio; daughter, Kimberly Sue Pressley of Bessemer City; four brothers, Parks Hubbard, Kenneth Hubbard, Harold Hubbard, and Gene Hubbard; five sisters, Edith Williams, Nancy Long, Rachel Knox, Dorothy Thompson, and Faye Cain; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Gladys Hartman Goodman Carpenter, age 94, of Lake Sylvia Road in Lincolnton, died on Friday, November 23, 2012.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Key officiating. The family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 25, 2012 atWarlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Carpenter was born September 27, 1918 in Lincoln County to the late A.W. and Ethel Mae Rinehardt Hartman. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Ann Perkins; her first husband, J.C. Goodman; second husband, Robert Carpenter; two sisters; and one brother.
She is survived by a son, Walter Wade Goodman and wife Phyllis of Crouse; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

CLAREMONT — Katherine Stines Martin, 93, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2012 at Abernathy Laurels.
She was born August 17, 1919 in Gaston County, the daughter of Logan and Mary Riddle Stines. She was a faithful member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Claremont, loved quilting and watching her “Soap Operas”. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother, she touched the lives of many with her love and kindness. She is preceded in death by her husband, Farris P. Martin and a son, Bobby Lee Martin.
Survivors include her five sons, Wilson Martin and wife, Katherine of Maiden, Donnie Martin and wife, Cindy of Maiden, Kenneth Martin and wife, Mary of Newton, Farris Martin Jr. and wife, Nancy of Newton and Joe Martin and wife, Joyce of Kannapolis; six daughters, Mary Lou Sisk of Lincolnton, Mildred Whitman of Lincolnton, Madeline Byers and husband, Frank of Newton, Frances Pruitt and husband, Arthur of Claremont, Debbie Wilson of Claremont and Shirley Setzer and husband, Everett of Claremont; a daughter-in-law, Alice Martin; 27 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Claremont by the Rev. Dr. Perry Miller and Pastor Pervie Stines. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
