Delta Kappa Gamma
The Delta Sigma chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, an international society of women educators, met Thursday, Nov. 15 at the First Baptist Church in Lincolnton for dinner and information.
The meeting began with inspirational readings reflecting on the idea of Thanksgiving by members Jenny Dellinger and Pat Carpenter.
Members were educated on handling their financial matters by guest speaker Sarah Paris.
Ms. Paris, a Lincolnton resident, draws upon her 14 years of experience in the financial-services arena to educate women on financial literacy.
She gave the members tools to rely on to feel confident when making decisions concerning investing their money.
The business portion of the meeting was led by Delta Sigma President Dr. Elaine Jenkins.
Committee chairpersons shared information on society activities.
Plans are being made to award an outstanding Lincoln County high school senior, interested in entering the field of education, a $1,000 scholarship this spring.
Delta Sigma sister Wanda Lutz was excited to share with the group that all of Lincoln County’s first- and second-year teachers are being impacted by the sisters of Delta Sigma.
This fall, members of Delta Kappa Gamma have shown their support for new teachers in various ways, such as providing them with supplies, gift cards, treats, cards and words of support and encouragement.
The meeting was concluded with the singing of the Delta Kappa Gamma song.
The next meeting will be held on Feb. 21 at 4 p.m.
