Before the official start of one of the busiest times of the year, the Lincoln County YMCA invites the community to “welcome in the holiday season through the lens of a Christian message” by participating in the organization’s 13th Annual Thanksgiving Prayer Breakfast, a press release said.
The stated goal of the event, which has drawn hundreds over the years, is to unite individuals through prayer, encouragement and fellowship just before the winter holidays get under way.
Lincolnton’s Chillin N’ Grillin’ will cater this year’s breakfast, which will commence at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday at the James W. Warren Citizens Center.
A service will follow the meal at 7:30 a.m. with guest speaker Andy Calhoun, president and CEO of YMCA of Greater Charlotte, the release said.
During the event, The Green House Jazz Ensemble will perform special entertainment, and community members will share prayers.
Tickets, which are $12 per person and $90 per table of eight, are available at the Lincoln County YMCA, located at 1402 Gaston Street in Lincolnton. Individuals may also purchase tickets by contacting Member Services at (704) 716-4500.
Linda Harrill Rudisill, YMCA board member and Co-Chair of the Christian Emphasis Diversity Committee, summed up the breakfast’s purpose in the release, calling it a time “to strengthen our spirit as we acknowledge that each and everyone in Christ is our brother.”
