Putting up the Lincolnton Christmas tree

City workers drill a hole on the courthouse lawn Friday morning in which to set the community Christmas tree. The 2012 tree, donated by Harold Burgess of Denver in memory of his late wife Betty, is a cedar estimated to be around 45 feet tall. A slice cut from the trunk of the tree will be turned into a plaque in honor of the Mr. Burgess’ gift to the city.
