Cynthia Kay Little Allen
Mrs. Cynthia Kay Little Allen, age 59, of Crouse died Saturday, November 10, 2012. She went peacefully to be with the Lord after a long illness.
Cynthia was born in Lincoln County on October 18, 1953 and was the daughter of the late Harry Reeves Little and Juanita Gardner Little.
Cynthia was called “Nana” by many children, but didn’t have any children of her own. She was always like sunshine when she walked into a room and always made everyone laugh. She graduated from West Lincoln High School in 1970.
Cynthia is survived by two sisters, Mona Reesa Little Lupian of Mascotte, Fla., and Linda McMahan of Crouse; one nephew, Jimmy Allen Hendricks of Mascotte, Fla.; two nieces, Chastity Neal and Lindsay Neal of Lincolnton; two great nephews, Jordan Allen Hendricks of Houston, Tex., and Nathan Christopher of Lyman, S.C.; one great niece, Kimberly Renea Hendricks of Houston, Tex.
No funeral arrangements are planned at this time.

Roger Barton Leonhardt

Roger Barton Leonhardt, 64, of 5038 Hurricane Hill Road, Granite Falls, died Monday, November 12, 2012 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.
Born March 5, 1948 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Elmer Louico Leonhardt and Betty Lou Lipps Leonhardt. He was owner and operator of Farmers Fertilizer, Smokey Dan Kennels and Vale Grain. Mr. Leonhardt was a member of Hoyle Memorial Christian Fellowship Church, American Kennel Club and served in the US Army during Vietnam.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Eric Leonhardt.
Survivors include his wife, Violet Farley Leonhardt; stepson, Derrik Casto of Granite Falls; stepdaughter, Drema Stilwell and husband, Todd of Conover; four step-grandchildren, Brandon Casto, Adrik Casto, Tyler Stilwell and Hannah Stilwell; three brothers, Keith Leonhardt and wife, Kathy, David Elmer Leonhardt and Jonathan Evan Leonhardt all of Vale; two sisters, Gail Morrison of Vale and Deborah and Kirby Gantt of Lawndale; nieces and nephews, Dustin and Devin Gantt, Katrina Childers and husband, Rodney and children, Brody and Gavin, Chad Leonhardt, Lacey Leonhardt, Maddie Leonhardt, Jada Hullette and children Koragan and Maddox Hullette, Charlinda Price, Natasha Perez and husband, Carlos and son Fabian Perez, Sean Hildebran, Somer Price, Jessica Leonhardt, Tami Summey and husband, Mike, and children, Colton, Marissa, Cooper and Christian.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Hoyle Memorial Christian Fellowship, Lawndale. At other times the family will be at the home of David Leonhardt, 2354 Smokey Dan Kennel Road, Vale. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Hoyle Memorial Christian Fellowship, Lawndale. Officiating will be Rev. Johnny Allen ‘Batmite’ Carpenter
Mr. Johnny Allen “Batmite” Carpenter, age 48, of 354 Victory Grove Church Road, Lincolnton died Sunday, November 11, 2012.

Mr. Carpenter was born on July 10, 1964 in Lincoln County and was the son of the late Patricia Powell Carpenter.
He is survived by three sons, Jonathan Carpenter of Lincolnton, Josh Carpenter of Lincolnton and Matthew Carpenter of Lincolnton; one daughter, Kelly Carpenter; father, John Carpenter of Lincolnton; two sisters, Pamela Mixon of Lincolnton and Tammy Blanco of Pikeville; a number of nieces and nephews.

Fred Junior Hendricks
Mr. Fred Junior Hendricks, age 61, of 3247 Harmon Road in Lincolnton, died on Saturday, November 10, 2012.
His funeral service will be 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2012 in theWarlick Funeral HomeChapel with Pastor Kevin Miller officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Hendricks was born February 20, 1951 in Catawba County to the late Hugh Alexander and Hazel Johnson Hendricks. He worked in textiles.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Hendricks of the home; one daughter, Julie Sigmon of Vale; five brothers, Edgar Hendricks of Vale, Jake Hendricks, Cecil Hendricks, and Bobby Hendricks all of Lincolnton, and Billy Joe Hendricks of Fla.; four sisters, Faye Sigmon and Betty Taylor, both of Lincolnton, Nancy Hester of Maiden, and Patricia Hendricks of Lincolnton; and two grandsons, Ronnie Sigmon II and Justin Lee Sigmon, both of Vale.

James Edward Gibson
James Edward Gibson, age 80, of 1995 Gastonia Highway, Lincolnton died Sunday, November 11, 2012.
His funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Leland Stephenson and Rev. Andy Raines officiating. His body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. tonight at Southside Baptist Church.
Mr. Gibson was born on March 28, 1932 and was the son of the late James Harvey and Mary Louise Ball Gibson. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Dan Gibson. He was a retired auditor with Howard Johnsons/Days Inn in Gastonia and later worked at H and R Block. Mr. Gibson was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean War.
Mr. Gibson is survived by his wife, Ruth W. Gibson of the home; mother, Louise Gibson of Kingsport, Tenn.; one son David Edward Gibson and wife, Theresa of Bessemer City; one sister Barbara Pryor and husband Howard of Ga.; sister-in-law, Cheryl Gibson of Kingsport, Tenn.; a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hollis Dean Fortenberry, age 66, of 433 E. Rhodes Street, Lincolnton died Saturday, November 10, 2012.

Mr. Fortenberry was born on November 23, 1945 in Lincoln County and was the son of the late Charlie D. and Margie Hager Fortenberry. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ken Fortenberry and a sister, Sue Perkins. He was retired from the textile industry. Mr. Fortenberry enjoyed fishing, hunting, NASCAR and Redskins football.
Mr. Fortenberry is survived by his daughter, Karen Elliott and husband Ray Elliott of Lawndale; two brothers, Walt Fortenberry and wife, Linda Fortenberry of Lincolnton and Jerry Fortenberry of Lincolnton; one granddaughter, Morgan Elliott of Lawndale; girlfriend of 16 years, Kathy Bowman and many nieces and nephews.

Lela Josephine Wike McCorkle, 92, of Hickory died November 12, 2012.
