MONDAY

Blood drive
Community Blood Center of the Carolinas will host a blood drive 9-11 a.m. and 5-7 p.m. at the YMCA of Greater Charlotte, 1402 E. Gaston St. in Lincolnton.

Coalition of Churches
The Coalition Of Churches will 7 p.m. at Oaklawn School in Lincolnton. Topics for discussion will be a community-wide Thanksgiving service and a Martin Luther King Jr. celebration.

TUESDAY

Tai Chi class
Lincoln County Cooperative Extension will host a Tai Chi class 5-6 p.m at the James W. Warren Citizens Center in downtown Lincolnton. The six-week class will be every Tuesday through Dec. 4 and Mondays Dec. 10 & 17. For more information or to register, call (704) 736-8461.

NARFE
Chapter 1983 of The National Active and Retired Federal Employees will meet noon at Lincoln House in Lincolnton. A representative from Blue Cross/Blue Shield will be available to discuss open season options. For more information, call (704) 748-6498.

Spay/neuter clinic
Registration for the Humane Society of Lincoln County’s low-cost spay and neuter clinic on Nov. 27, the final one for the year, will be 1-4 p.m. Individuals may register in person at 2422 Country Club Rd. in Lincolnton.

AARP meeting

Thanksgiving service
Crouse UMC, 3311 Crouse School Rd. in Crouse, will host a community Thanksgiving service at 7 p.m. A love offering will support Project Agape, a North Carolina United Methodist ministry for one of the poorest regions in Armenia. Childcare will be available for children five and under.

Lincoln Quilters
The Lincoln Quilters will meet 7 p.m. at the James W. Warren Citizens Center in downtown Lincolnton. Guest speaker Susan Knapp will present a program and trunk show on her new book Point, Click, Quilt.

Youth worship
First Baptist Church, 201 Robin Rd. in Lincolnton, will host E. J. Swanson and Jonathan Wyndham for youth worship at 7 p.m.

SATURDAY

Craft show

Surviving the Holidays
Pisgah UMC, 2582 Gastonia Hwy. in Lincolnton, will host a “Surviving the Holidays” seminar for those who’ve recently lost a loved one. The event will be 9:30 a.m. to noon. To register, call (704) 732-0538.

Hospice month
In honor of National Hospice Month, Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region will host “Dining Out for Hospice” day at Sports Page Food & Spirits in Denver. The restaurant will donate 10%-15% of their sales to either Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region, Lake Norman, Lincoln County, or Levine & Dickson Hospice House.

Fish fry/oyster stew
Crouse UMC, 3311 Crouse School Rd. in Crouse, will host a fish fry and oyster stew 4-7 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Proceeds will benefit the church building and renovation fund.

Bike Run
Toys for Tots will host a bike run with sign-ups at 11 a.m. and a run at 1:30 p.m. starting at Open Road Cycles in Denver. Police will escort the ride from N.C. 16 to 73 to 27 to 150 back to 16 and ending at Joey’s Fine Food and Spirits in Denver.

Thanksgiving service
Lander’s Chapel UMC, 1205 Lander’s Chapel Rd. in Lincolnton, will host an ecumenical Thanksgiving service and community supper at 6 p.m. Several area churches are sponsoring the event.

Coat drive
United Way of Lincoln County is currently collecting new and gently-used coats to be distributed 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 8 at 211 W. Water St. in Lincolnton and 7687 Old Plank Rd. in Stanley.

Volunteers needed
Lincoln County Lifesaving Crew is currently seeking volunteers to gain experience and maintain continuing education hours. Volunteers, who will be expected to assist in squad functions and man the station, must be NC EMT-basic certified, have a valid driver’s license and CPR card.

Advocacy Center event
Tickets are currently available for the “Casino Royale Charity Gala” 6-11 p.m. Dec. 15 at Vesuvius Vineyards. Lincoln County Coalition Against Child Abuse & Child Advocacy Center along with First Federal Savings Bank is sponsoring the fundraiser. The event will feature a roaring twenties theme with a Texas hold’em poker tournament with celebrity and professional guest dealers along with black jack, roulette tables and other casino-type attractions, food and entertainment.
