MAIDEN — Jonathon Carter Jennings, age 2, of Maiden passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Levines Children Hospital in Charlotte.
Born February 25, 2010 in Catawba County, he was the son of Jonathon Jennings and Mandy Walker Jennings. Carter enjoyed attending church at Lawings Chapel Baptist Church in Maiden. Carter was a courageous little boy with a heart and character far beyond his short two years. He blessed any who had the privilege to know him. His energy was contagious, his smile infectious, and his love unending. His love of cars led to spending many wonderful hours with family and friends; his ability to give his own gifts ensured that he was always showing others God’s love.
He was preceded in death by, Great Grandpa Victor McSwain; Great Grandmother Eloise Jennings; Great Grandparents, J.B. and Ethel Walker.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents Jonathon and Mandy Jennings of the home; grandparents, Steve and Lorie Walker of Maiden, Luther and Janet Jennings of Denver; great grandparents, Chester and Lucille Deal of Claremont, Pearl McSwain of Waxhaw; aunts and uncles, Ashley and Justin Wike, Steven Walker, Amanda Baucom; five cousins, Camden and Landon Wike, Heather and Kaitlyn Baucom, Kipton Jennings; numerous people that were loving and supporting to Carter and his family.
We would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and doctors at Levines for their hard work and dedication in saving the lives of children.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lawings Chapel Baptist Church in Maiden with Rev. Steven Rector and Rev. Marion Powell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the church. At other times the family will gather at the home of Steve and Lorie Walker.

Kenneth David Wray, 34, died November 4, 2012.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Fox.
He is survived by his mother, Sandra Wray; uncle and aunt Gary and Bonny Fox; aunt and uncle Kim Fox and Jeri Lail; brother, Ross Brown Jr.; sister, Krystal Fox; brother, Kristopher Fox; two sons, Kolby and Kain Caskey and their mother, Crystal Caskey.

Raymond Tyrus Buckner Jr.
June 2, 1931 – Nov. 7, 2012
Raymond Tyrus “Ray” Buckner Jr. of Lincolnton, died November 7, 2012, in Boone, at age 81, after a period of declining health.
He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, and friend. He loved his family, the mountains, photography, sports and travel. A native of Dallas, N.C., he grew up in Belmont, and graduated from Belmont High School. He lettered in football and basketball. He attended Mars Hill Junior College before serving in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in Orleans, France. Ray studied civil engineering at N.C. State College, graduating in 1958. He was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity and played junior varsity basketball. He met his future wife, Peggy Graham, at a high school football game in Lenoir, and they were married in June 1960. They settled in Charlotte, and raised three sons, Ty, John and Will. After beginning his career with C.D. Spangler Construction, he worked for 18 years with Duke Power Company in survey and real estate development and later in design and civil engineering. In 1977, Ray and his family moved to Lincolnton where he owned and operated Buckner & Associates, a land surveying and engineering firm. Ray was a licensed professional engineer. He surveyed Lincoln and surrounding counties with accuracy and integrity for over 30 years and was active in the N.C. Society of Surveyors. Raised in the Baptist tradition, he was a member of Avondale Presbyterian Church in Charlotte and First Presbyterian Church in Lincolnton. He was a deacon, elder and Sunday School teacher.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Peggy of Lincolnton; son, Ty Buckner of Greensboro; son, John Buckner, wife Jeannie and children Emily, Charlotte and Graham of Davidson; son, Will Buckner, wife Patty and children Danielle, Mary and Elizabeth of Boone; mother-in-law, Ann Graham of Boone; sister, Phyllis Holderby and husband John of Reidsville; sister, Nancy Hyde and husband Don of Belmont; brother, Joe Buckner and wife Jane of Belmont; four nephews and a niece.
A celebration of Ray’s life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 11, at First Presbyterian Church in Lincolnton. A visitation will follow in the church fellowship hall. The family will be at home at 703 N. Laurel St. at other times. Interment will occur in the columbarium at Avondale Presbyterian Church at a later date.

Margaret Mae Story Jetton, age 83, of 2388 Story Street, Lincolnton died Thursday, November 8, 2012.
Her funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Boger City Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Bigham and Rev. Bob Wise officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. tonight at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jetton was born on January 31, 1929 in Lincoln County to the late Frank and Blonnie Long Story. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Willard Story and Harold Story and two sisters, Evelyn Story Seagle and Shirley Setzer Smith.
Mrs. Jetton is survived by her husband, Bob Jetton of the home; three brothers, Jerry Story of Lincolnton, Truett Story of Lincolnton and Don Story of Lincolnton.

Mrs. Dorothy Kirby Smith, age 79, of 1869 Arrowood Lane, Lincolnton died Tuesday, November 6, 2012.
Her funeral will be 11 a.m. today in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family received friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Smith was born in Cleveland County on June 23, 1933 to the late Clarence Marshall and Deffie Irene Sisk Kirby. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Billy Dean Smith and one brother, Bobby Kirby and his wife, Alene. Mrs. Smith was a retired supervisor with Dallas Pillow Company. She enjoyed doing needle point and taking care of her great-granddaughter, Madison.
Mrs. Smith is survived by two sons, Bobby Smith and his wife, Jodi of Lincolnton and Richard Smith of Lincolnton; daughter, Crystal Setzer of Lincolnton; brother, Kenneth Kirby and his wife, Shirley of Shelby; two step-sons, Roger Smith and his wife, Becky of Lawndale, Terry Smith and his wife, Tonya of Cherryville; aunt, Linda Osborn and husband, Buck of Shelby; twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren and her guardian angel, Phyllis.
