WEDNESDAY

Ribbon cutting
Bi-Lo on N. Generals Blvd. in Lincolnton will host a re-grand opening with a ribbon cutting 7:55 a.m. Proceeds will benefit Christian Ministry of Lincoln County. The first 100 customers will receive free grab bags filled with coupons and other goodies. Santa will be at the event 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday during a fall festival.

College registration
Registration and advising starts today through Nov. 15 for returning Gaston College students. Visit gaston.edu to view the class schedule for spring semester.

THURSDAY

Extension workshop
Lincoln County Cooperative Extension will host the second day of its workshop “Who Gets Grandma’s Yellow Pie Plate?” The class will be 9-11 a.m. at the Extension office in Lincolnton and 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the Shanklin Library in Denver. For more information, call (704) 736-8461.

Diabetes month

Church bazaar

Holiday bazaar
St. Matthew’s United Church of Christ, 4575 Maiden Hwy. in Maiden, will host a holiday bazaar 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Breakfast will be served 7:30-11 a.m. and soup and salad from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Veteran’s Day Events
American Legion Post #30 will host its annual Veterans Day breakfast for members only at 8 a.m. The Lincoln County Veterans Day will follow at 11 a.m. starting on W. Water St. and Flint St. After the parade, the Veterans Day Ceremony will take place on on the west side of the courthouse where the 2012 Veteran of the Year will be announced. Capt. Randy Cash will be the keynote speaker.

A Carolina Christmas
Long Shoals Wesleyan Church , 3032 Wesleyan Ch. Rd. in Lincolnton, will host “A Carolina Christmas” 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Breakfast will be available. A variety of local vendors will be on hand including but not limited to Pampered Chef, AVON and Tupperware along with jewelry and crafts.

Christmas show
North Brook Baptist Church, 7421 Flay Rd. in Cherryville, will host their 4th Annual Christmas Show 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be on hand along with Christmas decorations, baked goods and other gifts.

Bluegrass Festival
Maiden High School in Maiden will host Wayne Taylor’s Homecoming Veteran’s Day Bluegrass Festival with several local bands 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Taylor is a retired U.S. Navy master chief and former leader of the U.S. Navy Country Current band. Songfest

Blood drive
Community Blood Center of the Carolinas will host a blood drive 9-11 a.m. and 5-7 p.m. at the YMCA of Greater Charlotte, 1402 E. Gaston St. in Lincolnton.

Coalition of Churches
The Coalition Of Churches will 7 p.m. at Oaklawn School in Lincolnton. Topics for discussion will be a community-wide Thanksgiving service and a Martin Luther King Jr. celebration.

Coat drive

Gingerbread house
Enter now to participate in the Festival of Trees’ Gingerbread House Competition, sponsored by the Arts Council of Lincoln County. Volunteers needed
Lincoln County Lifesaving Crew is currently seeking volunteers to gain experience and maintain continuing education hours. Volunteers, who will be expected to assist in squad functions and man the station, must be NC EMT-basic certified, have a valid driver’s license and CPR card.
