The Downtown Development Association of Lincolnton (DDA) recently recognized 13 small businesses with a “Main Street Milestone Award.”
The award acknowledges the contributions these small businesses make to create local jobs, increase the local tax base and improve the quality of life for local residents. It highlights and celebrates the individual entrepreneurial success stories in Lincolnton.
Businesses are recognized at 5-year intervals. The following businesses were recognized for entrepreneurial success:

  • Stroup’s Jewelers – 60 years
  • City Lunch – 55 years
  • Pendleton, Pendleton & Deaton – 55 years
  • First Citizens Bank – 50 Years
  • Sherrill, Blake & Harrison CPA PA – 40 years

  • Kate McCall – 10 years
  • Color Me Pretty – 5 years
  • Freedom on the Square – 5 years
  • Heavenly Paws Grooming – 5 years
  • Personal Home Care of North Carolina – 5 years

“The Main Street Milestone Award allows us to recognize those businesses that make such a difference in our community and have for years,” said Brad Guth, director of the Lincolnton Business and Community Development Department, in a press release announcing the awards.
“We often get caught up in the novelty of the latest and greatest new business and the next ribbon cutting and fail to recognize the importance of Lincolnton’s existing businesses.”
“Honoring these businesses helps put into perspective our core focus on small-business development and continue to draw attention to the importance of our existing business retention and expansion efforts,” Guth added.
