Water outage
Lincoln County Public Works will repair a faulty water valve starting 9 a.m. in the vicinity of the 4100 block of N.C. 16. The water will affect Mundy Rd. to Denver Industrial Park Dr. for approximately five hours. For questions, call (704) 736-8497 or (704) 483-7082.

Festival of Trees
Forms are due for the The Arts Council of Lincoln County’s “Christmas Tree Sponsors” for their second annual Festival of Trees in December. The event is a community fundraising project. For more information, call Holly Poole Perkins at (704) 530-0846 or (704) 735-2227.

Trunk-or-treat
Shalom Baptist Church, 210 N. Aspen St. in Lincolnton, will host a “trunk-or-treat” event 5:30-8 p.m.

Fall festival
The South Fork VFD’s Ladies’ Auxiliary will host its 2nd Annual Fall Festival 6-8 p.m. at the fire station, 2736 Long Shoals Rd. in Lincolnton. Activities will include games, a cake walk, fire truck tours, music/dancing and visits from Sparky the Fire Dog.

Blood drive
Community Blood Center of the Carolinas will host a blood drive 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at West Lincoln High School, 172 Shoal Rd. in Howards Creek/Vale. All donors will receive a free T-shirt.

Pesticide Disposal Day
The Lincoln County Cooperative Extension will host Pesticide Disposal Day 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lincolnton Farmer’s Market. Individuals may bring old pesticides from around the garage, out-building, shed, etc…Hazardous waste is not allowed. For more information, call Libby Yarber at (704) 736-8452.

Book sale
The Charles R. Jonas Library in Lincolnton will host a book sale 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today through Nov. 3 at the James W. Warren Citizens Center in Lincolnton.

Diabetes awareness
CMC-Lincoln will kick-off Diabetes Awareness Month with another session in their “Thursday Treats” series called “Diabetes Cooking and Recipe Swapping.” The event will be 3 p.m. at the Lincoln Medical Plaza, 441 McAlister Rd. in Lincolnton. For more information, call (980) 212-6006.

Special presentation
North Lincoln Middle School, 1503 Amity Ch. Rd. in Denver, will host a special presentation 6 p.m. on the life of Rachel Joy Scott, who was killed in the 1999 shooting at Columbine High School in Colorado. The recommended audience age is 6th grade and up.

R.A.C.E.S.

The Lincoln County Senior Center and N.C. Cooperative Extension will host a senior citizen’s fall craft show and sale 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Boger City UMC in Lincolnton with needlework, wood work, baked goods, jewelry, pottery and more.

Community Blood Center of the Carolinas will host a blood drive 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Covenant Bible Church, 2168 Gastonia Hwy. in Lincolnton.

“Coats for Canines”
The Humane Society of Lincoln County will sponsor “Coats for Canines” 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2422 Country Club Rd. in Lincolnton. Coats, sweaters, purses and toys will be available in exchange for a $2-$5 donation.
Proceeds will benefit Lincoln County spay and neuter programs.

BBQ sale

Business Affair
“A Business Affair” will take place 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Buffalo Shoals Community Building in Lincolnton. A number of local small businesses and charities/non-profits will be on-hand at the event.

Children’s Fair
Lincoln County DSS, 1136 E. Main St. in Lincolnton, will host their 7th Annual Children’s Fair 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in their parking lot in honor of Adoption Awareness Month. Activities will include games, face and hair painting and free car seat checks, among others.
