Lady Knights beat Pisgah in five sets

PUMPKIN CENTER — The North Lincoln Lady Knights volleyball team survived a five-set match against the Pisgah Lady Bears to escape the first round of the NCHSAA 2A playoffs.
Pisgah took the first set 25-19. The Lady Knights took control of the second set for a 25-15 win.
Pisgah took a 2-1 lead in the game with a 26-24 win over North Lincoln in the third set. The Lady Knights rallied from a 20-15 deficit to tie the game at 20-20. The Lady Knights tied the game at 22-22 and against at 24-24, but Pisgah scored two unanswered points to take the set.
North Lincoln forced the fifth-set tiebreaker with a 25-15 win in the fourth set. Pisgah knotted the set at 6-6, but the Lady Knights pulled ahead, leading 19-15 before scoring the final six points needed to take the set.
Pisgah tied the fifth set at 6-6 but North Lincoln scored four unanswered points to take a 10-6 lead. Pisgah pulled within three points for a 14-11 North Lincoln lead, but the Lady Knights scored the final point to advance.
Junior Olivia Loeffler led North Lincoln in kills with 13 points and had 33 digs. Senior Lyndsi Pound contributed 12 kills and six blocks. Sophomore Nicole Barbieri led the team with seven blocks.
Senior Molly Bolick had 24 assists.
North Lincoln hosts Maiden in the second round of the playoffs at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
